Remedy Spotlight: Lycopodium clavatum
Essence:
Lycopodium suits those who appear confident and charming in public, yet can be controlling or irritable at home. They want respect and recognition but often feel insecure underneath. A classic picture is “angel in public, bossy or demanding at home.”
Main Uses:
Digestive issues – bloating, gas, fullness after only a little food, craving sweets.
Liver and gallbladder problems – heartburn, sour burping, right-sided abdominal pain.
Urinary issues – kidney stones, slow or difficult urination, especially in children.
Respiratory complaints – asthma worse 4–8 pm, rattling chest, cannot cough mucus up.
Children – intelligent but shy, fear of failure, may be bossy with siblings or mother at home.
Mind Picture:
Public vs private self – kind, polite, and well-behaved outside; impatient, bossy, or irritable with close family.
Fear of failure – anticipatory anxiety, lack of confidence before an exam, performance or speaking in public.
Need for control – dislikes being contradicted, becomes angry when things don’t go their way.
Emotionally sensitive – easily hurt by criticism but hides it behind pride.
Modalities:
Worse: 4–8 pm, after eating, cold drinks, tight clothing, being hurried.
Better: warm food or drinks, uncovering feet in bed, gentle motion, fresh air.
Keynotes:
Bloated abdomen with loud gas.
Craves sugar, sweets, pastries.
One foot hot, the other cold.
Right-sided complaints or symptoms that move from right to left.
“Angel outside, demanding and irritable at home.”
