Recovery is essential,
In the turbulence of our days,
It can be found on Nature's path,
In many different ways.

Recovery is a quiet walk,
on a blustery Autumn day,
Greeting every fluttering leaf,
That falls along the way.

Recovery sings from every branch
A sweet melodic song,
That calms a troubled mind,
And has the charm to right each wrong.

Recovery is the healing ocean,
That washes over an aching soul,
Restoring a flagging life force
A return to feeling whole.

Recovery is the pathway home,
A place to slow down and rest
Releasing all pain and worry,
Until we can feel our best ...

Plants and animals don’t fight the winter; they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives that they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They perform extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through.
Winter is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximising scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that’s where the transformation occurs.
Winter is not the death of the life cycle, but its crucible. Once we stop wishing it were summer, winter can be a glorious season in which the world takes on a sparse beauty and even the pavements sparkle.
It’s a time for reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment, for putting your house in order.
Doing those deeply unfashionable things; slowing down, letting your spare time expand, getting enough sleep, resting ...

The things that weigh heavy in the background of our daily living – procrastination (unanswered calls, simple apologies, hard conversations etc. )
make us small.
They hover.
They make marks on our bones, taking every ounce of energy we have to play the game of guilt and shame which can turn into illness.
Wise up.

Name them.
Claim them.
Do the right thing and take care of your business because it is the only way to freedom.

Learning to Love Yourself

You held your mistakes
as if they defined you.
Now, place your hands
over your own heart,
and feel the pulse that never left.
Love yourself—not as reward,
not as penance,
but as the wind loves the trees
and the sea loves the shore—
without question, without measure.
You are whole.
You always were.

Compassion: A Gentle but Powerful Force

Compassion is a quiet force,
yet it can change everything.
It arrives without fanfare.
It moves gently,
in small acts that reach deep.

A single kindness
can ease the weight of sorrow,
bridge the distance between strangers,
and whisper to someone in the dark:
you are not alone.

It opens hearts once closed by pain,
softens anger into understanding,
and teaches us to see
the fragile beauty in others.

Through compassion,
we begin to see beyond difference,
beyond fear,
beyond the sharp edges of anger.

It reminds us:
every soul carries a story,
every heart longs to be understood.

And in offering kindness,
we are changed too,
made humbler,
braver,
more tender,
more human.

Gratitude arrives every evening,
It visits at the end of each day,
Wrapping me in a warm appreciation,
For everything that's been sent my way.

It's accompanied by a gentle reminder,
That life isn't always easy or kind,
But for each problem there's a solution,
And a way forward, we miraculously find.

When all is done, I can finally exhale,
And seek a moment to recover and rest,
Knowing that whatever has happened,
I strived, proudly, to do my best.

As dusk falls upon the distant horizon,
And the moonlight illuminates the way,
I count each of my blessings, one by one
And give thanks for another day ..

“Pooh,” asked Piglet softly, “how do you know when it’s time to step away from the things that make you sad?”

Pooh thought for a good while, because it was the sort of question that touched both the heart and the tummy — and those, he knew, were the most important kinds of questions.

“Well, Piglet,” he said at last, “sometimes you notice that certain places or certain thoughts start to feel heavy — like trying to carry too many honey pots all at once. And then you remember that it’s perfectly all right to set some of them down.”

Piglet tilted his head. “But isn’t that leaving things behind?”

Pooh shook his head gently. “Not leaving, Piglet. Just choosing. Choosing to hold on to what keeps you warm inside, and to let go of what makes your paws ache. Because even in the Hundred Acre Wood, not every path is meant for every day. Some paths lead to sunshine, and some only to thistles.”

Piglet let out a small sigh of relief. “So self-care is knowing which path to take?”

“Exactly,” said Pooh. “It’s remembering that caring for your heart isn’t selfish. Because when your heart feels lighter, you have more kindness to share with the friends who need it most.”

And with that, Pooh leaned back against the log, a flower in his paw and a cup of warm tea beside him, thinking that true strength wasn’t in carrying everything — but in knowing when to carry less. 💛🩷
