OVERDOSING ON SEROTONIN
Serotonin is the chemical that makes you feel good. It’s what all the pharmaceutical companies pump
into those “wonderful” little anti-depressants. It’s also a little drug that God decided to pump through our
brains when we do things he/she/it likes. It’s kinda like a little reward for good behavior, you know?
Anyway, get this: When you do something kind for someone else, the person you’re helping has
serotonin released in his/her brain—she/he feels happier. And so do you !
Good news! Two more serotonin-induced happier people in the world! Woo hoo!
BUT the most incredible thing is this: not only do you and the person you helped feel better, so
does some random person who happened to watch your act of kindness.
Amazing...
I like serotonin. You? I say we overdose today. :)
Serotonin is manufactured in the brain and the intestines. The majority of the body's serotonin, between 80-90%, can be found in the gastrointestinal tract.
It is thought that serotonin can affect mood and social behavior, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory and sexual desire and function.
If you feel that you could do with a little extra serotonin, because you might be stressed, depressed, sad or just a little down, REFLEXOLOGY can help you!
Through the reflex points on the feet that correspond with the serotonin production organs, serotonin can be boosted and your levels can be increased within as little as half an hour. But of course, the more stimulation on the reflex points, the better you will feel ;)
