Pilates was originally developed to help injured soldiers regain strength and mobility during World War I. Joseph Pilates worked with bed-ridden soldiers, using springs attached to hospital beds to support movement, build strength, and encourage recovery. These early ideas later became the foundation of the Pilates equipment and method we practice today.
What began as a system for rehabilitation and resilience has grown into a timeless method that supports strong, balanced, and well-functioning bodies for life. At Pilates Centre, we honour these roots by teaching purposeful movement with precision, control, and care.
