If you care for a baby or young child, would you know what to do in an emergency?

Choking, CPR, head injuries… some of these situations are rarer than others, but they do happen - and knowing how to respond calmly can make all the difference.

On Sunday 3 May, we’re running our next Paediatric First Aid Workshop (in English) in Madrid, designed for parents, grandparents, and carers.

This is a practical, hands-on session where you’ll learn how to respond to real-life emergencies with confidence.

March’s Prenatal Course was officially wrapped up last week! 👋🏻✨
Here’s a glimpse from their social event - this isn’t the full group, but what a lovely, international mix to welcome Spring 🌍🌸

For the first time in a while, we didn’t have any Irish parents, and we were thrilled to welcome our first dad from Taiwan 🇹🇼💛

Parents-to-be joined us from the UK, Canada, the US, Netherlands, Mexico, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Spain.

During the course, we covered everything from birth options in Spain, hospital processes 🏥, paperwork 📝, to postpartum support ❤️ and caring for a newborn 👶🏻

Wishing all these families the very best as they prepare to meet their babies this Spring 🐣✨

💙 World Down Syndrome Day – March 21 💛

As parents we all share the same hope: that our children feel loved, supported, and able to thrive in the world around them.

Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21. In Spain, many families are raising children with Down syndrome who are growing, learning, and bringing enormous joy to their communities every day.

With the right support, inclusive education, and strong community networks - children with Down syndrome can and do lead full, meaningful lives, where they make the world a bit brighter for those around them. ✨

For expat families, navigating support for children with special needs in a new country can feel overwhelming, but Spain has dedicated organisations like Down España offering guidance, resources, and advocacy.

Today is a reminder that every child’s journey is unique - and every child deserves inclusion, opportunity, and respect.

If you're looking for a public nursery (0–3 years) place for next school year, now’s the time to apply 🇪🇸👶

👶 👧 Who can apply?
Children aged 0–3 (including babies due before 1 Jan 2027)
New applications or changing nursery

🤔 Where to apply?
Online via Comunidad de Madrid
Or directly at your chosen centre

✅ Includes:
• Community nurseries
• Some public schools
• Some publicly funded private centres

⚠️ Not included: Ayuntamiento nurseries or fully private centres
