Yesterday, Essential Tremor made its voice heard at the heart of Europe. 🇪🇺

Patients, caregivers, clinicians, advocates, European Members of Parliament, and policymakers came together at the European Parliament in Brussels to present a joint declaration calling for a healthier Europe – one that recognises Essential Tremor (ET) as a distinct brain disease and prioritises innovation and equal access to care.

More than half of Europeans will face a neurological condition in their lifetime, and an estimated 60 million people worldwide live with essential tremor*—yet many are still misdiagnosed or left without appropriate treatment.

This declaration is a commitment to do better:

🧠 Put brain health higher on the EU agenda

🔬 Support research and innovation

🤝 Strengthen collaboration between policymakers, patient organisations, industry and clinicians

❤️ Improve access to effective, evidence-based care for people living with ET and their families.

“My husband is my rock.” 💙

For over 50 years, Jackie Farrell has lived with Essential Tremor (ET), a condition that forced her to give up her dream career as a dance teacher.

Yet today, she stands tall in front of the EU Parliament, hand-in-hand with her husband, Tony, fighting for equal access to care for everyone living with ET.

Tony has been by Jackie’s side for 35 years. “I wouldn’t be here at the EU Parliament today without him supporting me at every step,” she says.
