In order to strengthen good mental health, our relationship with nature has a great impact.

Nature encompasses many places. It can mean brown areas such as mountains, cliffs, blue spaces such as rivers, canals or beaches, and green areas such as forests, woodlands or parks. But! You don't have to physically be in these natural settings to get the positive benefits. Just watching documentaries on TV or pictures is enough.

Nature keeps us emotionally, psychologically and physically healthy. But we need to be connected with nature. Researchers use the term "connectedness", which means how we relate to nature and experience it. By doing activities that involve our senses, we develop our connection with nature.

How to get high positive energy levels, and who to keep them? Two interesting questions due to the energy level we have are important for our ongoing life. You probably noticed days with high energy, and everything is going fantastic, as well as the opposite. Tough days with low energy, and everything is feeling difficult and undoable.

The more you learn how to fill your energy levels, the more days you will have with energy. It’s also important to listen to yourself and your needs when you have low energy levels, by taking care of yourself, such as resting and recovering.

A ritual is something you do often that you want to do. I can help you create a new habit you want, or to make existing rituals even better. For example, you have noticed that when you usually eat your dinner in the weeks, you feel stressed about doing it at the time you are used to doing it. Why not postpone the time 30 minutes to minimise the stress? Or you want to create a habit of a stretching moment for your body each day. Decide when you want to do it, and make a ritual with a note in your calendar, so you remember to do it.

Rituals are good to have and create more of to make your days more as you want them. If a ritual doesn’t work one day, not a problem, try it the next day. If the ritual is often difficult, try to change it to make it easier to do, or change the time that is working better.

I love to be lazy when it’s possible. For me, laziness is doing something spontaneous, or has no business at all. You do it only because you want to. Either passive or active. Just skip time for a while and feel what you need now.

Last Sunday, I had a lazy day, doing only what I wanted at each moment. Walking as long as it was nice, having a long coffee moment, looking at a golf tournament on TV for a while, got inspired. So, I went to the driving range to practice my golf swing as long as it was fun (not long at all).… When I think about that day, it makes me with content because it was so relaxing. I ought to tie up dust etc. at home, but I don’t regret a second of that day.

Wow! Autumn is underway and filled with new opportunities. To look forward to fun things, I usually make a list of what I want to do until Christmas.
I love taking long walks and being in the moment. To help myself relax and be present, I try to use all my senses to be so engaged that I forget everything - to just be in the moment.
I have silenced my phone, smelled the air, listened to the wind, looked carefully at the surroundings or the sky, felt my finger’s trees or leaves, and discovered new ones that I had not noticed on my walk before.
Even if you go somewhere often, how many new things can surprise you when you are present with the place? Try it next time you have the chance.

To have more energy and enjoy it will be much easier when you do things often that you like to do. Even if it’s only 5-10 minutes, it will help your energy levels rise. Why is that important? Because your energy levels are at a high level doing a fun thing, they will stay for the less ones too. The less funny things will be easier to do thanks to your cheerful mode.

Or if you must do something boring at home, think of how you can do it a bit more fun. For me, it helps to listen to energising music while doing boring stuff. The music raises my energy levels, helping me cope with the things I must do. Works both at work and at home.

To show yourself vulnerable is brave. When you expose yourself to your shortcomings or mistakes, you put yourself in a vulnerable position. But! It will also help others see that it’s not only them who make mistakes.

I often tell people about mistakes I have made, and we all laugh. So, next time in the right place, you may tell someone a mistake you have made, and you both feel sorry or laugh about it together, depending on what kind of mistake it is.

So, laughing at your mistakes is a good start to being more secure with vulnerability. We’re only human beings with our flaws and….

In September, it may be time to plan a nice weekend. What are you longing for right now that you can do during the weekend before Christmas?
If you lack time or money to do something big, try to come up with something that feels simple and realistic.
I previously had a post about Quality Break @ Work and thought about the importance of creating contrasts to what you normally do during your working days. This is somewhat the same thing, but during a day off or a whole weekend. Think of something you haven't done in a while. Maybe you want to relax or do something more active.
Figure out what you need most right now, and book an appointment in your calendar. The best thing about planning a weekend is threefold. 1) You long for the weekend and get a smile when you think about it, 2) You enjoy it when you do it and 3) It becomes a nice memory.

Increasing your inner energy can help you make the changes required to improve your life, to create a life that is more meaningful to you.

Everyone has four basic energy needs: the body, emotions, senses and soul. Each shares a common foundation of what is required to achieve maximum energy, but simultaneously we are all different, each with different genes and environmental influences. As you learn more about basic needs, you will realize the importance of increasing your inner energy.

The higher your energy level, the more you want to do, and the better your quality of life. As far as we know, we only live once. Imagine if you could get so much energy that you live life to the fullest every day and fulfill your dreams; take a road trip, climb a mountain or write a book.

Now you finally have a set day for the opportunity to listen to music you normally don't. For example, when I read about a musician I have never heard of before, I start listening and immediately like the rhythm, the melody and the voice.

I watched a series from Iceland, and in one episode they played a song I fell for. Never listened to Icelandic music before. Looked up the song on Spotify and started listening to more music from Iceland. Now I have made my own list. Similarly, when I watched the series "Bosch" and heard a lot of jazz music, I was inspired and made a jazz list - a genre I have not liked before.
