In Week 1 we temporarily remove dairy and nightshade vegetables to give the immune system and gut a chance to calm down.

Dairy can be inflammatory for many people because:

Milk proteins can irritate the gut lining
It can increase mucus and bloating
It stimulates insulin, which can slow fat burning
In sensitive people, it can worsen skin issues, joint pain, and water retention.

Nightshades include tomatoes, peppers, aubergine, white potatoes, and chilli/paprika. These contain natural compounds (like solanine and lectins) that can irritate the gut and joints in susceptible people.

Not everyone reacts — but in people with:
bloating
autoimmune tendencies
joint stiffness
skin flare-ups
hormonal inflammation
…they can keep the immune system slightly “switched on.”

By removing these foods short-term, we:
✔ reduce background inflammation
✔ calm digestion
