The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) is what I like to call the Australia of Europe.. Mirroring the east coast of Australia the lesser known Costa de la Luz is a world apart from other areas of the coast, expansive pristine white sand dunes and hidden untouched pine forest wilderness coastal trekking trails. Lined with bohemian surfing communities and traditional Andalusian rustic white washed fishing towns.
The region hosts one of Europe’s most incredible gastronomical Tuna festivals, every year in May after the first full moon, the white villages of Tarifa, Conil, Barbate and Zahara de los Atunes celebrate the arrival of the almadraba-caught Atlantic bluefin Tuna, this festival is something to be seen! You’ll taste the finest Tuna ever served in the most creative styled dishes ever.
These are the last towns in Spain where these ocean giants are still caught by the original almadraba trapnets dating back 3000 years ago to the Phoenician way of life. With trekking comes feasting! Which is an incredibly important part of the day..! @ Bolonia, Andalucia, Spain
