Memories from the jungle.

The Samaúma is one of the largest trees in the Amazon, reaching over 60–70 meters, with massive roots rising above the ground and spreading wide for stability. Some live around 300–400 years.

In Amazonia, she is known as the Queen of the Forest for the role she plays — holding water, supporting biodiversity, and connecting life around her.

She moves huge amounts of water through her system — drawing from deep underground and releasing it back into the forest, helping regulate humidity and rainfall.

Her canopy creates an entire habitat. Birds, insects, and mammals live in her crown. Her flowers feed bats and bees, which depend on her for nectar and pollination.

Her roots and trunk create shelter — where plants grow, animals hide, and life organizes itself around her.

Below the surface, she is connected to other trees through fungal networks, sharing nutrients and supporting the forest as a collective system.

We used to gather around her in prayer, singing the Yawanawá traditional chants called “saitis”, and working with the sacred medicines of the earth.

I was also coming there alone. Sitting in silence, my back held by this elder. Being in the jungle is to be constantly in awe of the diversity, the aliveness, the colors, and sounds, while simultaneously fighting again everything that wishes to feed on you, especially the sand flies that are definitely the most annoying living beings on Earth 😅 Yet, it’s all part of the process of experiencing a place where duality is everywhere, learning physical and spiritual boundaries while opening and expanding, contracting and protecting, trusting and surrendering, dancing with lightful and dark forces.

Three years ago, I took a flight to Brazil to go for a one-month dieta in the Amazon rainforest, at

On this video, I am receiving a plant bath, one of the main practices used in the forest by the Yawanawa people to cleanse our field, receive the properties of the plants, the protection of their spirits, and clear any remaining stagnant energy from the past or from the work opened in ceremony.

In the first part of the video, you see my teacher, , who became the first woman leader of her people after going through one of the deepest initiations, helping reshape entirely the role of women in the Yawanawa tradition.

For a long time, I couldn’t really put into words the experience I went through during my dieta, and especially after, when I return to Europe with the challenge of integrating it back into the world. It took me a long time to understand what had been opened, the gifts I’ve received and lessons I’ve learnt sometimes the hard way.

Now since the last few months, I finally feel something has settled. The teachings have landed and finally been integrated.

I’m starting to feel the call to share a bit more about what I’ve lived there, and the learnings I’ve received since that sacred seed was planted with the dieta.

When I connect back to that experience, I can still remember the forest, its smell, its whispers, the timelessness of its wisdom, the voices, and radiant eyes of its people, and the deep heartbreak of leaving a land that felt like returning home.

I’m looking forward to connect with Mãe Amazonia and its guardians again! Ihuuuuu 🪶🐍

Human beings are one of the youngest species on this planet. It makes sense that we still have so much to learn from the older nations: trees, plant, rock, water nations…

The water is even said by the scientists to be older than the sun! And indigenous people already knew it as we found that confirmation in many of their creation myths.

In Lakota tradition, the creation of the world begins with Inyan. Inyan’s blue blood is actually water. As he sacrified himself, his blood was released to bring life on Earth.

Imagine all the wisdom that can be unlocked from the beginning of creation - if there was even such thing than a beginning..!

This is my commitment in this lifetime: keep on learning and listening to the wisdom of these elders.

We still have a few spots for our upcoming Olive Tree diet starting at the end of the month. Tap 🌳 if you want to receive the full info.

7 benefits of plant dietas

A plant dieta is a traditional practice of entering a period of intentional relationship with a specific plant, herb, or tree. Through dietary restrictions, daily rituals, and moments of spacious contemplations, you create space to listen and receive its wisdom.

This work is now one of my main spiritual and health practice and it has profoundly changed the way I relate to my body, to my emotions, to the invisible, while being a very grounded practice rooted in the simplicity of the living wisdom.

Our next online dieta is starting on March 25 with the Olive Tree. This ancient tree has been honored for thousands of years across the Mediterranean world. It is a symbol of peace, blessing, protection, prosperity, and longevity. Ancient cultures saw it as sacred — a tree that endures drought, fire, and time itself, continuing to bear fruit. To diet with Olive is to work with themes of inner peace, resilience, stability, and reconciliation. It invites us to root deeply, to soften conflict within ourselves, and to reconnect with our sustainable roots.

Possible effects of dieting with Olive leaf:
• Inviting a deeper sense of peace and protection
• Strengthening resilience in times of stress
• Supporting emotional balance and inner calm
• Encouraging longevity and vitality
• Reducing inflammation in the body
• Offering antimicrobial and immune support
• Helping regulate blood sugar levels
• Supporting cardiovascular health

A dieta is a traditional practice of entering into a period of focused connection with a specific plant, herb, or tree. It comes from the healing traditions of the Amazon, such as Peruvian curanderismo, where plants are understood not only as physical remedies, but as conscious and intelligent beings — teachers, protectors, and allies.

During 4 weeks, we will journey together guided by this powerful elder tree.

Karlyn Sovied - sound therapy, breathwork, shamanism

I am a sound therapist, composer, breathwork facilitator and shamanic practitioner.

After years working in an office, I found this environment was too restricted for the tons of things I wanted to do, learn, see, feel… I quit my job, my apartment and went to travel Asia. On the road, from country to country, I found myself.

Since my young age I was always fascinated by sound and explore it as a cathartic channel. During my journey, I notice how sound has a primordial role in the connection to the spiritual world, like a door that leads to deeper levels of consciousness. I meet spiritual masters who teach me how to use sound as a way to heal and repattern our system at a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. I learn from them sacred music instruments and chant techniques: gongs, Tibetan bowls, therapeutic tuning forks, mantras, overtone singing… I was trained by many teachers including the great Gong Master Baba Don Conreaux and the therapeutic tuning forks pioneer Dr. John Beaulieu.

I apply in my work scientific and spiritual ways to work with energy and vibration as well as ancestral knowledge from the shamanic tradition, working with the spirit world, using sonic driving (drumming, rattles) and occasionally plant medicine.
