In the latest article of our blog, we explain how the Tomicus bark beetle can reduce the effectiveness of endotherapy against the processionary caterpillar. By digging galleries under the bark, this insect damages the pine's internal channels and prevents the treatment from reaching the entire canopy. Although we achieved a 99.45% success rate in 2023, the drought has favored these invisible infections that block the product's circulation. The good news is that recent rains are helping recovery.

Aunque estamos a mediados de noviembre y ya se aprecian los primeros nidos de la Oruga Procesionaria del Pino, la buena noticia es que aún no es tarde para inyectar (endoterapia).

Las trampas con feromonas (atrayentes sexuales) son un método natural y ecológico utilizado para combatir la oruga procesionaria del pino durante el verano, complementando el tratamiento de endoterapia que realizamos en otoño. Este método es efectivo para el control de grandes áreas de pinos.

El objetivo es capturar hasta el 50% de las mariposas macho durante su época de reproducción, impidiendo muchas fecundaciones y reduciendo así el nacimiento de las orugas procesionarias del pino.

Pheromone traps (sexual attractants) are a natural and eco-friendly method used to combat the pine processionary caterpillar during the summer, complementing the endotherapy treatment we perform in the fall. This method is effective for controlling large areas of pine trees.

The goal is to capture up to 50% of the male moths during their breeding season, preventing many fertilizations and thereby reducing the birth of pine processionary caterpillars.

La buena noticia es que estas pequeñas orugas aún no pican y se pueden eliminar eficazmente inyectando sus pinos lo antes posible (la fecha límite es a finales de Noviembre)

The nests and caterpillars are already perfectly visible and in some corners of Mallorca this year's infestation will be dramatic, given their current numbers. The good news is that these little caterpillars do not yet bite and can be effectively eliminated by injecting your pine trees as soon as possible (the deadline is the end of November).
