Check out our volunteer, Beth!

Meet Beth Balliet | USO Rota, Spain

As we continue celebrating National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to highlight a volunteer whose impact spans nearly a decade — Beth from USO Rota! 🎉

With over 8 years of service and an incredible 2,903 hours volunteered, Beth has become a cornerstone of the USO Rota community. If you’ve spent time at the center, chances are — you know Beth.

She brings creativity and care to everything she does, especially through programs like Teddy Bear Club, where she designs crafts and loves seeing each child’s unique creation come to life. She also enjoys supporting USO baby showers, helping transform the space into something warm, welcoming, and special for growing families.

Beth has played a key role in planning and executing countless events, always going the extra mile to make sure every detail is just right. From leading Teddy Bear Club to preparing for Special Delivery programs, where she handcrafts decorations and thoughtfully selects prizes, her dedication shines through in every corner of the center.

One of her most memorable moments? A Blanco Brown BBQ luncheon, where she not only got to meet the artist, but also spent the day alongside fellow volunteers — something she values most about her time with the USO.

And a fun fact: Beth got married at the Jacksonville Zoo in Florida!

Her creativity, initiative, and willingness to always lend a helping hand make her an invaluable part of the team — and a familiar, friendly face to so many who walk through the doors at USO Rota.

Stay tuned as we continue to celebrate the incredible volunteers who make the USO mission possible.

We had such an incredible time at our Special Delivery baby shower yesterday here at USO Rota! 💕 With lots of fun games celebrating all of these amazing moms, it was a truly special day.

One of the most meaningful parts of the event was bringing together moms who are navigating a high-tempo season of life—many with spouses currently deployed and without their usual support systems nearby. Having a space where they could feel celebrated, supported, and connected made the day even more special.

It was also wonderful to see everyone connect—so many moms here in Rota don’t get the chance to travel home for a traditional baby shower, which makes this program even more impactful for our community.

A huge thank you to Hotel Duque de Nájera for allowing us to use such a beautiful space and to Hotel Playa de la Luz. It truly elevated the entire event and made the day even more memorable.

Ever wonder what makes our center and programs so incredible? Take a look at the amazing people behind it all—our volunteers. We truly couldn’t do what we do without them. 💙

They are the heart of our center—giving their time, energy, and compassion to make every program possible. From active duty members who come straight from work to lend a hand, to dedicated parents who spend their limited free time supporting others, to military spouses who are constantly balancing life during deployments while still showing up for their community—every single hour given makes a meaningful difference.
It’s not just time they’re giving. It’s care, commitment, and community.

To each and every volunteer: thank you for every hour, every effort, and every moment you’ve shared with us. We are endlessly grateful.

What an unforgettable celebration for our amazing military kids. 💜 From nonstop music to endless smiles (and plenty of purple), the day was a chance to recognize their strength, resilience, and individuality.

USO Rota was proud to support the Purple Up Dance at DOWEA - Rota Elementary School—an afternoon filled with energy, connection, and joy. Being part of a space where military kids could simply have fun and feel seen made the day especially meaningful.

Proud to support those who serve 🇺🇸⚓️
There’s nothing better than welcoming ships in and keeping crews fueled with fresh Spanish coffee and a warm smile. These moments remind us how much the little things mean—and how deeply appreciated they are.

We’re grateful every day for the dedication and sacrifice of our service members. Thank you for all you do for our country. Supporting you is always our honor.

Mission first. Always.

🐾 Canine Hour was one for the books!
It was amazing seeing our community come together—dogs making new furry friends, and people connecting just as easily. One of the most special parts of the day was watching service members stop by to get some much-needed puppy love.

One service member shared that they hadn’t pet a dog in months, and moments like that remind us why we do this. 💙

Thank you to everyone who came out, brought their pups, and helped create such a warm, welcoming space. We can’t wait for the next one!

USO Rota

The USO has kept our military men and women connected to family, home and country throughout their time of service – no matter where, how long, or under what conditions they serve. It was founded in preparation for World War II by national leaders who understood that maintaining high morale in a fighting force is vital to a nation’s military success. Over time, the USO has become the vital bridge between Americans and their military service members.

The USO is a family of volunteers, sustained by the charitable contributions of millions of generous Americans. We are united in our commitment to support America’s service members by keeping them connected to the people, places and things they love. We do this through countless acts of caring, comfort, connection and support. Our work is America’s most powerful expression of gratitude to the men and women who secure our nation’s freedoms.
