Skin to skin releases the love hormone oxytocin which is why it feels so lovely for you and baby! It's also great to encourage dad to join in ❤️
It’s world prematurity day today. Kangaroo care, skin to skin and nurturing touch are all amazing ways to support premature babies. Skin to skin contact helps to regulate baby’s heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and breathing rate. Your body and skin provides the natural regulator for your baby’s body and emotions. Oxytocin released helps you feel more connected to your premie. Much of the early research on infant massage comes from studies with premature babies and shows that touch really can help babies recover from premature birth, improve sleep patterns and weight gain. Our Newborn Nurture Teacher Training Course looks at early touch techniques and care for new born babies and mothers.
