Have you ever heard of the concept of living food versus dead food? Living foods look healthy and alive. These come packaged in their skin rather than in lots of packaging.

Foods that are fresh and alive are going to give you energy and make you feel ten times better. Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber all flow into your system in their natural state and these are the foods that are created to nourish us. 🥦🍓❤️

“Life is a combination of magic and pasta”. 🍝🍕🌱

The Italian diet is carb heavy yet their food and diet is said to be one of the most healthy in the world.

Italians aren’t eating strawberries in December. The dishes are designed to meet what’s in season. Like a lot of the Mediterranean countries they haven’t lost the tradition of local sellers like fresh fruit and veg and cheesemongers.

The wellness industry is exploding, and it is amazing people are focusing on their wellbeing but sometimes it feels like the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.

Eating in season, looking at quality and getting nutrients from what’s been freshly grown and harvested can do a lot for your body 🌱

No bake muesli bars 🍯 15 minutes

If you love something sweet to snack on, these muesli bars are full of fibre, healthy fats and made with honey not refined sugar. You keep them in the fridge and can also crumble up and add to yogurt with some fresh berries.

What you need:
1 cup of oats or barley flakes (or a cereal of choice)
1 cup of nuts like almond, walnut or pecans- chopped
1/2 cup of seeds - pumpkin, flax or other seeds
1/2 cup dried fruits like raisins
50g butter (swap with a vegan replacement if vegan)
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp tahini
Salt - just a pinch

What to do:
1. Line a baking tray with some parchment paper
2. In a large bowl add all the dry ingredients
3. In a pan, on low heat add the butter, honey, tahini and salt until completely melted.
4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well.
5. Pour into the baking tray and use a spoon to even it out.
6. Put into the fridge for up to 6 hours. Cut up and keep in the fridge for up to a week.

Slow January. If we can learn to mirror nature we will see that the darker, colder, shorter days are a time for slowing down, recharging and getting prepared for Spring & the year ahead.

Next Tuesday Feb 6th I’m doing a free online breathwork and meditation session. This is the one thing I do everyday that I now can’t live without. I used to tell myself I could not sit still and that my mind was just too busy for that kind of thing but little did I know I’d be someone who would benefit from it the most. This little bit of mental space each day helps me make better decisions, show up better and just feel better. If you are someone with a busy mind, going through something hard or just want to shut out some of the external noise and get a better sleep I think you will benefit.

Sign up using the link to my website and look for the free online meditation Feb 6th 8pm GMT.

I spent some time in Ikaria, also known as the island, where people forget to die. Ikaria, is a “blue zone”, a term coined to describe the places in the world where people live the longest. Eleni, local to Ikaria spoke to me about the importance of movement and the role it plays in longevity. Her Grandmother lived to 104. Right up to the end of her life she would walk across her fields to pick fresh herbs (purposefully planted far from her front door) and make fresh sourdough bread, which requires good strength.

Movement doesn’t have to mean the gym; it is whatever works for you and makes you feel.

This year I am taking a different approach towards resolutions. The world has changed so much over the past year and people have to. It’s so easy to get caught up with the pressure of what you think you should be doing. Sharing what I feel we need more of here and more in greater detail on my blog.
For me 2024 is about prevention. Your health is your wealth. Instead of running from health symptoms out of fear, investigate them and then focus on prevention. I’m really looking at where food comes from. The current way we are feeding our bodies is undermining the ecology we are dependent on. Spending more time in nature, supporting ethical brands, carving out time to pause and making the most of every experience as well as educating myself about how I can make little differences that add to the environment around me.

For me there are two key pillars to health: What you eat and how you manage your stress.

When it comes to what we eat so much has to do with quality. Our bodies crave whole and real foods in their most natural form.

More than ever I read and hear about people facing some sort of chronic illness. People are nutrient deficient and not getting the necessary support from what they eat. But what if the the answer is in our food…

Choosing to eat organic, local grown fruit and vegetables might not seem like an obvious answer. Yes it’s more expensive than conventionally grown produce but by fuelling your body with good quality food you become more resilient, which will be more cost effective in the long run 💪🏻

I want to share two amazing business with you & , both which I regularly shop from.

It’s not easy for these businesses to compete with supermarket prices but their missions are bigger than that. They’re providing food that’s grown on nurtured soil to provide people with real nourishment. The more we choose quality produce the more farmers will grow it.
