Astigmatism is a very common condition, where parts of the image projected on the retina are unfocused, most likely because the cornea is irregularly shaped. Mostly, the cause is when the cornea is shaped like a rugby ball 🏈 rather than a round football shape. ⚽

It is easily corrected with prescription glasses or contact lenses. 👓

Somebody with astigmatism struggles to see objects from any distance. Objects appear blurry and unfocused. Symptoms can also include headaches, eye strain, and having to squint to see clearly. 👀

Hyperopia, also known as longsightedness, is a very common condition that can be easily corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or laser eye surgery. The condition occurs if the cornea is flat, if the axis of the eye is too short, or if the lens in the eye is unable to focus properly. In that case, light rays from outside do not directly hit the retina, but gather behind the retina, and objects at a short distance will appear blurry.

If you suffer from nearsightedness, it means that it is easier for you to see objects in the distance than when they are close up. The closer you get to the object, the more obscure it becomes and the more tiring it is for the eyes, making it more of a strain to read or use your smartphone.

Myopia, also known as shortsightedness, is a very common condition that occurs if the eye does not deflect or refract light and therefore cannot focus clearly. Objects are clearly visible at a short distance, while objects at a longer distance appear blurred.

The condition is easily corrected with glasses or contact lenses.
If undiagnosed, you can experience headaches and eye strain. In children, the condition can lead to having a lazy eye or a squint.

Myopia occurs when the light passing through the cornea is refracted too much and therefore the light does not focus on the retina. The result is similar to what a blurry image looks like if the camera lens is not adjusted properly.
