๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐จ ๐๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ successfully conducted an informative academic seminar presented by Dr. Khalid Arebo, an experienced General Surgeon. The session focused on recent updates in the prevention and management of Surgical Site Infections (SSI), a major contributor to postoperative morbidity, prolonged hospital stay, and increased healthcare costs.
During the presentation, Dr. Khalid discussed the burden and impact of SSIs, highlighting common risk factors such as patient comorbidities, poor glycemic control, obesity, smoking, prolonged surgical duration, inappropriate antibiotic use, and suboptimal perioperative infection control practices.
The seminar emphasized evidence-based preventive strategies, including proper preoperative patient optimization, appropriate timing and selection of prophylactic antibiotics, strict adherence to aseptic surgical techniques, intraoperative temperature and glucose control, and effective postoperative wound care.
Dr. Khalid also outlined current approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of SSIs, stressing the importance of early recognition, wound assessment, microbiological evaluation, targeted antimicrobial therapy, and timely surgical intervention when necessary.
The session provided healthcare professionals with practical, guideline-based insights to reduce infection rates, improve surgical outcomes, and enhance patient safety.
๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐จ ๐๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ remains committed to advancing clinical excellence and patient-centered care through continuous professional development and expert-led academic seminars.
