Ethiopian Spelling Bee is for everyone.

As part of our unwavering commitment to inclusive and equitable education, we proudly sponsor government school students—ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and shine.

Today, we proudly highlight one of our valued government partner schools in Addis Ababa:
(ዳግማዊ ብርሃን 1ኛ ደረጃ ት/ቤት) Dagmawi Birhan Primary School,
where students are confidently and joyfully showing off their ESB study guide booklets—proof that opportunity builds confidence.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Addis Ababa Education Bureau and, most importantly, to the dedicated teachers who generously give their time, passion, and energy to prepare, guide, and inspire these young minds.

የማህበረሰብ ኩራት ከልጆች ይጀምራል!

From a field of determined spellers at the Shashemene Citywide Finals on Saturday, these twelve students persevered through three grueling rounds to proudly represent their city at the National Championship—in front of their families, friends, teachers, and community leaders.

After an inspiring and hard-fought competition, these outstanding students earned the honor of representing Shashemene at the National Championship in Addis Ababa on March 1, 2026.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the students, their dedicated teachers, and proud parents—and most especially to their coach and trainer, Miss Noah Gadara Williams of Royal Literacy Center.

Miss Noah is ESB’s sole officially recognized Ambassador Coordinator for Shashemene, fully endorsed by the City’s Education Bureau. Her commitment, discipline, and unwavering belief in her students continue to shape confident learners and future leaders.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to EELPA, our valued partner, and its president Mr. Yoseph Feleke, who served as the sole pronouncer of the event. We further acknowledge Ato Worku Feyese, a member of EELPA in Shashemene, who generously volunteered his time and expertise as a judge.

☕🐐 WHY COFFEA ARABICA SHOULD BE RENAMED COFFEE ETHIOPICA 🇪🇹

Long ago in the highlands of Ethiopia, a curious young goat herder named Kaldi noticed something extraordinary—
his goats began to dance with energy after eating bright red berries from a wild plant.

That moment of curiosity led to the discovery of coffee, one of the most loved beverages on Earth.
Yet today, the world calls it Coffea arabica—a name that points away from its true birthplace.

Here’s why the name should change to Coffee Ethiopica (or Coffee Abyssinica):

✔️ Historical Accuracy – Coffee originated in Ethiopia, not Arabia
✔️ Scientific Truth – Ethiopia is the genetic homeland of Arabica coffee
✔️ Cultural Recognition – Coffee is heritage, ritual, and identity in Ethiopia
✔️ Ethical Credit – Origin communities deserve recognition
✔️ Educational Power – Names teach history
✔️ Global Precedent – The world updates names to reflect truth

Coffee did not begin in Arabia.
It began with Kaldi, dancing goats, and Ethiopian soil.

✨ Every sip should remember its source.
Ethiopia is not just part of coffee’s story—it is the beginning.

IShowSpeed’s visit to Ethiopia was a powerful cultural moment and a missed national opportunity at the same time.
It showed how Ethiopia can captivate the world—but it also exposed a critical gap.

Meeting his Ethiopian look-alike, who did not speak English, was a sobering reminder that language matters. In today’s fast-moving global economy, English is no longer just a tool of communication—it is a confidence booster, a gateway to opportunity, and a passport to visibility.

Talent, charisma, and potential alone are not enough. Without investing in oneself—especially in language and communication skills—opportunities pass by unnoticed. The Ethiopian look-alike had the moment, but not the preparation.

English is not a barrier; lack of access to it is.
And confidence is built through exposure, practice, and education.

At Ethiopian Spelling Bee, we believe this is exactly where the journey must begin—with children, so they don’t just have potential, but also the voice, confidence, and global readiness to use it.
