The FDRE Proclamation No. 799/2013 introduced Vehicle Insurance Against Third Party Risks. This is the official page of the IFAA.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian Proclamation No. 559/2008 has introduced Vehicle Insurance Against Third Party Risks, which requires owner of vehicle to have a minimum third party motor insurance that provides compensation to victims of road traffic accidents. Article 19 and Article 21 of the Proclamation provide the establishment of Insurance Fund and Insurance Fund Administration (IFAA) to undertake among other things compensation to victims of Uninsured and Untraced vehicles and also guarantee that all road accident victims receive Emergency Medical Treatment. Accordingly, the Ethiopian Insurance Fund Administration (IFAA) was instituted in 2008 taking these responsibilities and to overview the effective implementation, monitoring and review the provisions of the Proclamation on the ground.
