💪A 10 kg Benign Ovarian Cyst successfully removed in a two-hours(2 hours) surgery at Baraka Hospital.
Baraka Hospital has once again proven its position as a center of excellence in both medical and surgical care by successfully performing a complex surgical procedure on a 27-year-old pregnant mother with a very large ovarian cyst.
This achievement highlights the hospital’s expertise, advanced surgical capability, and exceptional multidisciplinary teamwork in managing high-risk cases with precision and care.
The patient, G6P5 and seven months pregnant (third trimester), presented to Baraka Hospital with gradual abdominal swelling, shortness of breath, and fatigue after visiting several healthcare facilities. Upon thorough evaluation, imaging revealed a huge cystic mass measuring 27 × 24 × 28 cm arising from the right o***y. The mass was causing compressive effects on surrounding organs(causes moderate hydroureteronephrosis).
After detailed evaluation and meticulous surgical planning, considering both maternal and fetal risks, the patient consented to surgical intervention.
Operative Highlights
Procedure performed: Laparotomy with unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.
The surgery was completed successfully without intraoperative or immediate postoperative complications. The patient improved well and was discharged in stable condition.
