Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Although the incidence is highest among people over 50 years of age, it is rising among younger adults.
Early detection of plays a crucial role – it supports prevention, enables timely treatment, and significantly increases the chance of survival. Regular screenings are an effective way to detect colorectal cancer early.
Faecal immunochemical testing ( ) is an effective tool for both screening and symptomatic assessments. Quantitative FIT tests, such as the QuikRead go iFOBT, detect haemoglobin originating from occult blood in stool samples when there is excess bleeding from the lower gastrointestinal tract. A faecal occult blood result helps triage patients for further examination, such as colonoscopy. 🩺
