Hatha Yoga is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of yoga.
The word hatha comes from Sanskrit: Ha means sun and Tha means moon.
It symbolizes the union and balance of opposites: strength and gentleness, activity and rest, the masculine and the feminine.
Today, when we speak of yoga, we often mean practices that originate from Hatha Yoga.
It is the foundation of nearly all physical yoga practices, from which modern styles like Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Iyengar have evolved.
In practice, Hatha Yoga is a discipline where body, mind, and breath unite.
Asanas, the yoga postures, build strength and flexibility.
Pranayama, the breathing practices, calm the nervous system and balance energy.
Relaxation and meditation, in turn, quiet the mind.
Hatha Yoga is therefore not just stretching, but a holistic practice that brings strength, balance, and inner peace.
It begins on the physical level, but in yoga, union means much more.
Traditionally, it refers to the connection between the individual and all that exists.
Hatha Yoga is a gateway to this deeper connection.
Through the practice, we find balance and can open the door to inner peace as well as to the flow of life that carries us all.
