Kevät tuli tänä vuonna nopeasti. Vain parissa viikossa lumikinokset sulivat ja paljastivat maan niiden alta.
Kevät on aina ollut itselleni vuoden rankinta aikaa. Valon nopea lisääntyminen tuo paljon muutoksia – ei vain luontoon, vaan myös ihmiseen.
Vaikka kevät on lupaus uudesta elämästä, toivosta ja lämmöstä, siinä on myös jotain rumaa. Kaikki on märkää, mutaista ja liukasta. Talven aikana kertyneet roskat ja koirankakat tulevat esiin. On siivouksen aika.
Sanat eivät oikein riitä kuvaamaan sitä tunnetta, jonka pohjoisessa asuva kokee, kun tuntee auringon lämmön kasvoillaan ensimmäistä kertaa pitkän talven jälkeen. Se on lähes huumaavaa.

Spring arrived quickly this year. In just a couple of weeks the piles of snow melted, revealing the ground beneath them.
Spring has always been the hardest time of year for me. The rapid increase of sunlight brings many changes — not only in nature, but in people as well.
Even though spring is a promise of new life, hope and warmth, there is also something quite ugly about it. Everything is wet, muddy and slippery. The trash that accumulated during the winter — and the dog p**p — suddenly reappears. It is a time for cleaning.
Words can hardly describe the feeling someone living in the north experiences when they feel the warmth of the sun on their face for the first time after a long winter. It’s almost intoxicating.
