I wanted to start walking meditations in April but things did not go according to plan. So...I decided to offer a small walking meditation teaser here 😊

You can do this exercise anytime you are walking and wanting to find a moment of peace. The ideal place is to walk in a quite place in nature 🌳 Luckily, there are lots of those in Finland!

Change the count to something more comfortable for you. And let me know how it goes! ✨

For those in Turku, you know that this has been our weather this afternoon. I started feeling resentful at what *should* be a happy spring Saturday afternoon (which it was two hours before this photo was taken).

But then we went to the store during this snow storm and as we walked in, a little girl came out with her mother. She was wearing a snowsuit and the happiest grin on her face.

So it's all about perspective. I guess I can be grateful for snow, even if it is April 😄

This photo is from yesterday but on days like this it's hard to feel energetic and cheerful. What are some things that can make these days feel a little better?

Candles, warm blankets and a hot drink can help a little on the outside but sometimes you need a bigger boost on the inside too. Here are a few ideas:

1. Affirmations (one I recommend is "I am even minded and cheerful at all times. I know joy lies not outside me but within" by Swami Kriyananda)
2. Exercise including running, yoga, visiting the gym
3. The energization exercises taught by Paramahansa Yogananada are really effective at giving energy once you learn them. We will start offering classes on these exercises at Mukti in January next year so stay tuned!
4. Listening to uplifting music almost always changes my mood

Affirmations are a really helpful way to "re-calibrate" your thinking. Feeling down? Use an affirmation on joy! Feeling unmotivated? Repeat an affirmation for energy! This affirmation is one of my favorites when I have to do something I don't want to do.

To use affirmations effectively:
⚜️Repeat it several times, ideally out loud, quietly, in a whisper and eventually silently.
⚜️Say it with conviction! It takes energy and enthusiasm to change your thoughts
⚜️Stick with it for at least a week.
