GNCK is a dedicated paediatric multidisciplinary rehabilitation facility that supports babies, toddlers and kids across the Geelong, Greater Geelong & Western District Region. ⁣

We provide individualised & specialist evidence-based therapy for neurological & neurodevelopmental conditions, movement difficulties and injuries.⁣

We are passionate about working with the wider support team, family, Paediatricians, GP & other allied health professionals to maximise outcomes & provide the best possible care. ⁣

Treatment can be provided in both the clinic or home environment depending on the child’s goals.⁣

🌟 MEET ASH 🌟

Ash completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University in 2008 & has since worked as a paediatric occupational therapist across a range of settings including education, hospital & early childhood intervention 👧🏽👦🏼

Ash enjoys helping children & their families develop meaningful goals & working together as a team to achieve them.

Ash’s areas of interest include sensory processing, emotional regulation and self-care 🙌🏽

Ash has recently moved back to Geelong & she loves graphic design, yoga & spending time with her family and little nephew.

Ash is now taking paediatric referrals to see clients ❗️

This week we are celebrating and raising awareness for national pain weeek the theme of National Pain Week 2021 is “Connection”

People living with chronic pain often feel isolated by their pain.

The aim of NPW 2021 is to remind friends, family and professionals that connection is key to addressing the social isolation that pain can create.

Today we share with you a historical blog post about our unique pain management device the InterX. Since this blog was written we have invested in a second device such has been the success of the client outcomes and therapists demand for this form of therapy.

This is one of our newest pieces of equipment. I love it and it has become my go to treatment modality for so many clients. InterX therapy uses non-invasive electrical stimulation to communicate with the central nervous system to treat acute and chronic pain and provide soft tissue release increase....

Bec has joined us from the Royal Melbourne hospital with great experience in upper limb therapy, cognitive retraining, equipment prescription & community supports to help clients achieve their goals 💪🏽

With a previous career in Multimedia & Design, she’s passionate about exploring creative solutions to everyday issues affecting clients with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, acquired brain injury, vision impairments and post stroke 🧠

Once a month we complete an afternoon of PD at our clinic location alongside the EPs, Speech, Pods and Physio’s we learn about latest techniques and approaches. This month we were very fortunate to have a client spend time discussing his therapy journey and what he loves about a therapy team. Thankyou you are brilliant and inspire us all to keep getting better.

Upper Limb rehab. Our clinic location at the is a perfect spot for us to provide advanced therapy. 🔸Paul is working on shoulder control following a stroke 5 years ago that affected his arm. As seen in the video we are utilising the plinth, saebo MAS, air splint and estim to improve his active control under the guidance of his therapy team.
🔶Paul has come to Geelong from a rural town for an intensive block of therapy for 3 days with OT and EP teams.

𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸:
This week, Barwon Health's Public Health Unit launched the Special Access COVID-19 Vaccination Pop-up Clinic in the Geelong Advertiser. This clinic will provide support to people requiring special access to vaccination in a calm environment. 32-year-old Tristan was one of the first people to receive his vaccination at the clinic.

The little things in life......

After having a stroke 5 years ago Hande has been working towards improving use of her arm to be able to brush her hair. With a lot of persistence and determination Hande has made big gains towards this and other goals. In the video Hande is using the SaeboMas at the Geelong Neuro Centre to help build her functional strength.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we chose to be OTs. 💕

Welcome Jess.

Jess joined our team a fortnight ago; in the short space of time she has already begun impacting the lives of our clients with her infectious nature. On top of her 10+ years of Neuro experience she brings to work everyday a burst of enthusiasm alongside a gentle caring nature.

Jess was attracted to join the team at Geelong and Surrounds Occupational Therapy to work in the Geelong Neuro Centre alongside specialised Neuro Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Speech Pathologists and Podiatrists.

We look forward to seeing Jess continue to get the best out of her clients and reinvigorate their therapy programs.
