How can a global, imaging-rich registry powered by AI reshape surveillance and quality of life after EVAR and TEVAR?

In this episode of the ESVS Podcast, host Egle Kavaliunaite speaks with Prof. Kak Khee Yeung (Amsterdam UMC, ESVS President 2026–27-elect) and Prof. Timothy Resch (Copenhagen University Hospital) about the TOGETHER Registry, a large, prospective, long-term aortic registry capturing real-world data on EVAR, TEVAR and iliac branch devices, including hostile as well as standard anatomy.

ENHANCE EVAR is a certifying simulation-based educational programme aiming to prepare vascular surgical trainees to perform EVAR on patients with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms.

It consists of mandatory pre-course e-learning and 3 intensive days of hands-on training in Copenhagen.

We use high-fidelity simulators and the latest evidence within course design, assessment and certification. Participants will perform case sizing and planning on 3D-sizing stations and complete several EVAR procedures as surgeons and assistants on virtual reality endovascular simulators.

Everything is supervised by highly experienced EVAR surgeons guiding the participants through each step of the EVAR procedure.

Trainee to trainer ratio is 2:1, ensuring intensive learning and feedback.

During this course EVAR stent graft with infra-renal fixation will be used during the simulated cases.

🌟The 100th submission milestone was recently reached in the European Venous Registry!

🗣️ Maastricht UMC, the centre that made the 100th submission, shares their experience so far:

"MUMC Maastricht has always been a frontier when it comes to the treatment of patients with deep venous disease both conservatively and interventional. Our team of vascular surgeons, interventional radiologist and internists work closely together to navigate care and research. In this day and age creating evidence for interventional procedures that already have been widely accepted is difficult. As an alternative the European registry can provide insight in our own data as well as contribute to a wider acceptance and understanding in treating patients with acute and chronic deep venous thromboses. It was relatively easy to get approval from the board and the local METC so I would advise all centers that are treating these patients to enter the registry. Data entry is straight forward and does not take up a lot of extra time. Most of the questionnaires are already standard practice in our follow-up and the calculations are made by the registry itself.
