A look back at a full-scale training exercise with the PGHM de Chamonix in the Vallée Blanche.
đFirst rotation: helicopter drop-off of two rescuers to assess the crevasse and secure the area.
âïžSecond rotation: three additional rescuers reinforce the operation. A solid anchor system is set up to allow a rescuer to be lowered down to the victim.
During the assessment, a second rescuer equipped with a stretcher is also lowered to assist at the bottom of the crevasse.
đ·At the bottom, the victim is immobilized and secured in the stretcher.
âŹïžThe victim is then hoisted up using a winch system operated by the team on the surface.
Once everyone is safely back at the top, the exercise ends with a debrief: analyzing, questioning, and improving... always striving to be more effective in the field.
