🇺🇸 Hello everyone, it’s time to learn your lesson !
~ Have you ever feel pain watching someone fall ?
~ Pain is an ability, and as every ability you can involve it ! Since we are kids we learn how to feel pain
~ This is how after a pain episode, you don’t feel to make THE movement, because you KONW it’s going to hurt/it hurt
~ Most of the time it’s useful (knowing you shouldn’t put your hand in the fire to prevent your hand from burning)
~ But sometimes it’s inappropriate : saying ouch when you feel someone fall (in fact, we know what they can feel so we think this person is in pain. Because we learned it can hurt)
~ Good news is we can « unlearn » to feel pain !
~ For example you can expose yourself gradually to the painful movement (just to check if it is yet painfull) or by changing the way you see pain (easy to say).

🇺🇸 Hello everyone, let’s talk about sport after an osteopathic consultation !
~ The two mains objectives of an osteopathic consultation are less pain or more mobility. And the better you move, the less pain you feel.
~ Logically, if you tend to find your « no pain » mobility, who can tell you not to go for it ? Obviously, we would have checked you don’t have any risk factors.
~ So if you want to go for a run of do your yoga practice right after, it’s up to you ! The only rule you have to remember is to do it step by step.

🇺🇸 Hello everyone, I know it’s not the righr timing but let’s extend Christmas enchantment with today’s post !
~ Pain system is like a light garland.
~ Last time you picked up your pen, it ends with a lumbago, bedridden for 15 days with analgesics that gave you heartburn.
~But now, you dropped your pen...
~ So you grumble against yourself. And your wife is going to argue because she ask you for help since the begining of the week to change living room's curtains this weekend.
You think about the delay you are going to accumulate if your bed for 15 days again.
And twice in the same year, like Lolo who ended up in a whheeling chair, does it mean it's serious for me too ??
~ You are not event bended forxard that you're already imaging the following !
What you're saying face to this situation is like a christmas light garland.
~ The situation is going to light up memories, and if the draw created by the bulbs looks like a known garland, well the all garland is going to light up.
~ But every situation is different, so before thinking about the worse, think about how strong your back is , release your back and your belly, breathe regularly while you bend forward and upward, and it's gonna be ok !

🇺🇸 Hello everyone, why don’t we sleep well ?
~ There is a lot of different reasons to a bad night sleep : snoring of your one and only, the last cup of coffee at 6 pm, overthinking about what happened on your day, kids’ nightmares...
Here are the three mains causes !
~ Insomnia : it’s the most frequent cause. It’d defined by the difficulty to fall asleep, the difficulty to fall asleep during the night or to stay asleep a long time. The etiology can be biologique or not. It can be related to stress, anxiety or depression, some pathologies, environment (work or personal), or to bad sleep habits.
~ Sleep apnea : it’s a very commun cause that needs a medical diagnosis. It’s defined by respiratory pauses during night. Those pauses decrease oxygen concentration in the brain, which increase blood pressure (risk factor of cardiovascular diseases).
~ The restlessness legs syndrome : also known as Willis–Ekbom disease or Wittmaack–Ekbom syndrome, it’s more commun

🇺🇸 Hellos everyone, let’s try to understand a little bit more pain !
~ If you followed the previous posts, you now know there is not one and only cause to pain.
~ Pain is an emerging system, so if we’ll have to represente pain, the first image wouldn’t be so good.
~ A more realistic way to represente what may happen is the second image.
~ Indeed, a painful (or not) response to a same stimulus won’t necessarily be the same for everyone !
Example : a ankle strain won’t have the same stir than someone working behind a desk.

~ We often hear when we have a back pain that we should muscle up our core. But what reality says about that ?
~ Here again, scientific papers show any link between a lack of core muscle and low back pain.
~ In fact, overall doing core exercices make you do a physical activity and MOVE (again ?!), and now you know moving is LIFE !
~ So don’t worry, you don’t have to hold your planks for 10 minutes to avoid low back pain !

🇺🇸 Hello everyone, here is a new metaphor for you !
~ Pain is like... a SOUND !
~ Just as pain, it can be louder or lower.
~ If it’s a low sound it’s handable.
~ But if it gets louder and louder, because today’s sensibility is more important, it can be much more difficult !
~ As seen in a previous post, fatigue, stress, physical activity (too much or too less) and lifestyle are influencing factors for sensibility !

🇺🇸 Hello everyone, let’s talk about the link between pain and sleep !
~ Lack of sleep is comparable to a chronic stress : it induces a greater increase of sensibility to pain.
~ There is a relation between quality of sleep and perception of pain : the less the quality of sleep is importante, the more perception of pain is importante.
~ Moreover, an importante pain is associated to a diminution of total time of sleep, to a more important time to fall asleep and nocturnal awakening (especially in pathologies like fibromyalgia, arthrosis, low back pain, peripheral neuropathy).
~ But... do we sleep badly because of the pain or are we in pain because of the bad sleep ?
~ It’s more likely that a sleep disorder induces more pain than the other way.
~ Less quality and less quantity of sleep multiply the risk of having a
- neck pain by 4 for women and by 2 for men
- low back pain by 3 for both
~ You understood that quality and quantity of sleep are both important to manage pain ! I’ll give you advices to improve it but if it lasts in time or if needed, you probably will need to visit a specialist !

~ I’m going to give you 4 factors that influence body sensibility to pain.
~ First : fatigue. When you are tired, you are more irritable, more edgy. Well, body works the same. When fatigue builds up, the body can become a little more sensitive.
~ Stress is another influencing factor of body sensibility. Or one or more stress(es) which are difficult to manage.
~ Physical activity also comes into play. If you do too much or too less, or if you change duration, intensity, body sensibility can be modified.
~ And last but least, lifestyle in general, includes food, alcool, to***co, etc.
~ Dose makes the poison (except for to***co).

~ First, what is « text neck » ? It’s the position we have when we look at our phone : head down. Some searchers hypothesized this position is the source of neck pain.
~ They searched and there is until nowadays neither evidence of causal link between « text neck position » and neck pain. (If you want sources, ask in the comments below).
~ What is the difference between looking at your phone and reading the newspaper ? None.
~ So are we blaming the good sinful ? Or is this more about our modern lifestyle ?
