If you see your nature, you don’t need to read sutras or invoke Buddhas. Erudition and knowledge are not only useless but also cloud your awareness. Doctrines are only for pointing to the mind.
Once you see your mind, why pay attention to doctrines?
To go from mortal to Buddha, you have to put an end to karma, nurture your awareness, and accept what life brings. If you are always getting angry, you will turn your nature against the Way. There is no advantage in deceiving yourself. Buddhas move freely through birth and death, appearing and disappearing at will. They can not be restrained by karma or overcome by devils. Once mortals see their nature, all attachments end. Awareness is not hidden. But you can only find it right now. Only now.

On Monday, September 22, we commemorate the passing of Master Eihei Dogen from this world. He was one of the great patriarchs and a key figure in the history of Chan and Zen. Thanks to Master Dogen, the Buddha's teachings were transferred from China to Japan, where they ingrained, successfully developed and persisted in an undistorted form until today. Let us remember Master Dogen with gratitude on this day.

Today, we commemorate the anniversaty of passing away of the 6th Patriarch of the chan in China, Dajian Huineng (Daikan Enó, 638-713), who is considered to be the author of the Platform Sutra.
One of his most famous texts is his reply to a poem of a monk Shenxiu, who wrote:

"The body is the bodhi tree.
The mind is like a bright mirror's stand.
At all times we must strive to polish it
and must not let dust collect.“

Do you know what Huineng replied? 🙏🤔
