A devoted friend of international training programmes, and of VIBOT in particular, a much-loved figure in Le Creusot, and a kind, brilliant, and witty man has left us 💔.
The entire VIBOT master’s family owes him so much. We will honour his memory in every way we can.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Simon Lacroix, CNRS researcher at LAAS.

Simon was a long-time friend of the VIBOT Master and of our research community. He welcomed several of our students for internships and played a key role in the first ANR project involving Le2i – the research group that would later become .

Over the years, Simon consistently showed a warm and supportive interest in our master’s program and our research team. He was always ready to contribute – whether for a conference, a jury, or a new collaboration.

We fondly remember him saying: "It’s a shame that we didn’t think of creating VIBOT before you did."

Simon was a rare blend of deep scientific and robotics knowledge, sincere kindness, and graceful manners.
His presence and his contributions left a lasting mark on all of us who had the privilege to work with him.

He will be deeply missed 💔.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.
