EU leaders have been clear: the housing crisis is a social crisis, and we must tackle it together. With €19.6 billion from already supporting affordable housing and a European Affordable Housing Plan on the way, now is the moment to turn commitment into action.

That’s exactly what this Policy Lab is about, making affordable and social housing work in practice! In Fuenlabrada, Spain (18–19 November 2025), cities will come together to show how policies become solutions on the ground.

During our session at the #𝗘𝗨𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, we shared the first details about the upcoming 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 4, set to launch in early 2026.

💡The new call will bring:
• An updated framework of support helping cities test innovative, locally driven solutions
• A focus on small and medium-sized cities, newcomers to EU funding, and urban authorities eager to experiment
• Around EUR 60 million from the ERDF, expected to support 30 projects across Europe

At the EU City Lab on active mobility, co-organised with URBACT, urban practitioners, policymakers, and experts from across Europe explored how cities can boost active and integrated mobility.

Cities including Brussels (BE), Faenza (IT), Turku (FI), Coimbra & Pombal (PT), Varaždin (HR) and Hamburg (DE) shared their experiences: from promoting behaviour change and ensuring accessibility and inclusion, to improving urban–rural connections, safety, and the reallocation of public space.
