Dear Glia Community,
On behalf of Network Glia, the organizing and program committees, we are sincerely pleased to welcome you in Marseilles for the 15th European Meeting on Glial Cells in Health and Disease.
After the success of the meeting in Porto which gathered almost 1,500 gliobiologists from all around the world, the conference comes to France, and for the first time to Marseilles, in Provence. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to attend 7 plenary lectures, to participate in 30 symposia and 5 workshops encompassing all the topics related to glia biology. We thus hope that you will find here stimulating scientific exchanges. As usual, we will open our gathering with an introductory course.
The key attraction of Marseille is the city itself! Marseilles is the second largest city in France but also the oldest since it was founded over 2,600 years ago. This cosmopolitan city has much to offer, from ancient history and cultural diversity to unique seaside scenery. Our city is also famous for its seafood and the classic Bouillabaisse which should be tasted with a local wine. You shouldn't leave without visiting the MUCEM, a great museum dedicated to the Mediterranean, have a drink at the old port and a walk in the Panier, Marseilles’s oldest district. Not too far from the city centre, you may enjoy a hike in the Calanques, recently made a National park, the first in Europe to include land, sea and urban areas.
The 15th European Meeting on Glial Cells in Health and Disease will take place in Marseille-Chanot, a modern conference centre in the heart of Marseille. This place provides excellent poster and lecture facilities to accommodate all of the meeting activities. From there, you will easily reach by metro, bus or bike the historical centre, the old port and the seaside.
