I’ve been having cacao pretty much every morning for the last few months - getting up early as part of my yoga teacher training and it’s been nice having a rOuTiNe (never thought I’d be this person 😂)
Minimally processed cacao contains manganese, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, selenium and fibre! I’m not gonna pretend I’m a doctor but that sounds good to me 👌It has been linked to decreased blood pressure and inflammation - again, sounds good.
But honestly for me, I like how it makes me feel - a quiet moment before anyone else is up. To be a bit grateful for the day cause I’m sitting here wrapped in a blanket, drinking hot chocolate 😅
I love the natural taste of cacao, how different varieties and crops from different places have different flavour profiles. I like the bitter, I like the fruity notes, I like to feel out the earthy tones. I just add a little bit of maca powder and salt to mine but you can have it however you like - maple syrup, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, ginger… I would just suggest not heating it over 45/50C as this can start to break down some of the polyphenols and also make you burn your tongue 🙃
In my usual fashion of being extremely clumsy, I did have an issue keeping it in the pan but what do you expect from me 😂
This lovely cacao was from .uk and really is stunning! 💕
