👇🇫🇷Five things you need to work on to achieve a handstand 🤸‍♀️

1️⃣ Strength — shoulders, core, and wrists all need to be strong enough to support you upside down.
2️⃣ Flexibility — especially through your hamstrings and shoulders, so you can stack easily over your hands.
3️⃣ Balance — learning to find that micro-adjustment sweet spot where you can breathe and stay.
4️⃣ Alignment — understanding how your ribs, hips, and shoulders line up for stability.
5️⃣ Kicking up — the art of entering your handstand with control and confidence.

Most people try to improve everything at once but real progress comes when you identify which of these five areas is holding you back.
When you focus your practice on your current limitation, you’ll unlock faster, more sustainable progress.

We’ll work on all of these in my upcoming Handstand Workshop 🧘‍♀️
✨ 2.5 hours of drills, flow, and technique to build confidence and control upside down.

The last week of the holidays nearly finished me off three kids fighting non stop, a baby with gastro, and no husband to tag me out😵‍💫
Thank the lord 🙌🏽 they’re back at school, George slept through last night and gifted me a 3-hour nap today 🥳 The sun was shining, my house is clean and I finally got some yoga time ❤️
YouTube classes resume this week, and you can catch me teaching in my usual slots — Wednesday night, Friday morning, and Saturday morning.

Here’s a little preview of some of the drills we’ll be exploring in my Handstand Workshop on 15 November at

Before learning to balance upside down, your body needs to be intelligently prepared, strong, coordinated, and aware of how to activate the right muscles at the right time.

We’ll work through a full-body approach to handstands: strengthening the hands, wrists, forearms, shoulders and hip flexors, opening the hamstrings and shoulders, and refining pelvic awareness which is key for alignment, control, and effortless balance.

Expect wall drills, partner work, and plenty of time to explore, feel, and integrate.

Remember, your teacher can guide you, but can’t do the work for you. You can attend every workshop out there, but true progress only comes from consistent self-practice.
A teacher can give you the key, but only you can open the door. 🔑✨

Half tuck handstand 💥
One of the best shapes for building strength, control + balance upside down.

Here’s how to find it ⤵️
1️⃣ Start in a low lunge.
2️⃣ Hands just in front of your foot, shoulders stacked over wrists.
3️⃣ Grip the mat with active fingers + gaze slightly forward.
4️⃣ Push the floor away, round through the upper back, and pull your front thigh into your belly.
5️⃣ Swing your back leg and hop, keeping the front leg tightly hugged in, heel to butt, thigh to belly and both toes pointed.
6️⃣ Send your tailbone towards you heel to align your pelvis.

This shape teaches lift, compression, and core awareness, everything you need for a solid handstand practice. 🔥

🖇️Save this to practice later ❤️
