HAVE HANDS WILL TRAVEL
(Dwight giving me a treatment on flight from Peru)
🌀One of the features of reflexology is that it can be performed anywhere without the need for a treatment couch or a treatment room.
🌀This has been made clear to me on many occasions while travelling the world with Dwight Byers (Eunice Ingham’s nephew) to promote reflexology. It was during these times that I witnessed the ‘barefoot doctor’ approach.
🌀Dwight was not someone who held back with promoting reflexology. One of the first occasions I witnessed was when we flew to South Africa to give a series of seminars.
🌀Shortly after we took off, Dwight suggested that we talk feet with the passengers, and off he went up the aisle of the aircraft, introducing himself to passengers and cabin crew. I cowered under my seat in embarrassment!
🌀Coming back to his seat, he remarked, 'Porter, what is wrong with you? People need us.’
This turned out to be true, as during the night, one of the cabin crew said that a colleague had a bad headache and asked if she could receive treatment. The flight was not busy, and shortly thereafter, the cabin crew lady who was off duty was having a treatment from Dwight.
🌀After about 30 minutes, she remarked that she felt much better. With that, two glasses of champagne arrived.
🌀Word of Dwight's magic reached the flight deck, to which we were invited (in those days the security allowed this).
The captain was very interested in Dwight's therapeutic gift and said that his wife was interested in reflexology.
🌀The outcome was that we were upgraded to first class for the rest of the flight, and that was not all, the captain's wife attended our seminar in Cape Town! I witnessed this phenomenon many times, from Australia, Peru, and even on the Eurostar train.
I shall relate more on this subject later.
