๐Ÿ’— Womenโ€™s Health Matters ๐Ÿ’—

Womenโ€™s health covers many stages and experiences throughout life.
Being informed helps you feel confident, comfortable, and supported.

Here are some key areas to be aware of:

๐Ÿฉธ Periods
There are lots of options available to help manage your period, including pads, tampons, menstrual cups, reusable pads and period pants.

In Scotland, free period products are available in many public places. โ€“ these are available in the practice!

If your periods are very heavy, painful, or suddenly change, please speak to a healthcare professional.

๐ŸŒธ Menopause
Menopause is a natural stage of life and can bring symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep changes, mood shifts and brain fog.

Support is available โ€” including lifestyle advice, talking therapies, and treatments like HRT. You donโ€™t have to manage symptoms alone.

๐ŸŽ€ Breast Health
Knowing whatโ€™s normal for your body helps you spot any changes early.
Women aged 50โ€“70 are invited for breast screening every 3 years โ€” early detection saves lives.

๐Ÿฉบ Cervical Health
The HPV vaccine and cervical screening (smear tests) help prevent cervical cancer.
Screening is offered from ages 25โ€“64.
Any unusual bleeding or pelvic symptoms should always be checked by a GP.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Overall
Looking after your health means understanding your body and knowing support is available at every stage of life.

If you have any concerns, please donโ€™t hesitate to get in touch with your GP practice. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’ป Why we prefer Engage Consult

You may have heard of eConsult, another online GP system used by some practices. At our practice, we use Engage Consult because we feel it works better for our patients.

โญ Why Engage works well:
โœ” Itโ€™s simpler and quicker to complete
โœ” Only 7 short questions โ€“ usually takes just a minute or two
โœ” Lets patients explain their problem in their own words
โœ” Helps clinicians quickly understand what help you need
โœ” Gets your request to the right person first time

Systems like eConsult often involve longer forms and more detailed triage questions, which can take patients more time to complete.

๐Ÿ“ฑ If youโ€™re able to use Engage Consult, please use this instead of phoning the practice. This helps keep our phone lines free for patients who cannot access online services.

Using Engage helps us review requests safely and make sure patients get the right care as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“š Back to school after the Easter holidays? Donโ€™t forget your medication!

As children head back to school, itโ€™s a great time to check:
โœ” Expiry dates on inhalers, EpiPens, and any โ€œjust in caseโ€ medications
โœ” Any other medication your child may keep at school โ€“ make sure thereโ€™s enough for the term

๐Ÿ’Š Ordering early through Patient Services online, in-person forms, or the prescription line helps ensure your child has everything they need without delays.
