🌟Let’s hear it for our most nominated AFFA winner!🌟

Choosing our AFFA winners was no easy task. Every nomination was incredibly powerful, and our committee had the difficult job of selecting just a few from so many inspiring supporters✨

Award 17 – Rachel Kinsella MacGregor🏆 Rachel was our most nominated shortlisted candidate and it’s easy to see why. She pours her heart and soul into everything she does and has an incredible passion for charity and helping others. One nomination shared how Rachel helped transform their business from doing very little charity work into a fully committed corporate social responsibility champion, encouraging fundraising and community support at every opportunity. Others spoke about Rachel’s infectious positivity, her willingness to always step forward to help, and her drive to make a difference for those around her.

Rachel has supported Archie for many years, and thanks to her dedication, enthusiasm and encouragement of others, she has helped us raise vital funds that allow us to continue supporting children and families who need us most.

Please join us in congratulating Rachel and recognising her extraordinary dedication and long standing support of Archie. This AFFA is so well deserved!👏

🌟 Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Backbone of the Bereavement Service! 🌟

Choosing our AFFA winners was no easy task. Every nomination was incredibly powerful, and our committee had the difficult job of selecting just a few from so many inspiring supporters✨

Award 16 – Anne Bone🏆 Anne is a truly inspirational woman. Over 16 years ago, she recognised that bereaved children needed specialist support, so they could develop the strength and resilience to go on and thrive in life. Together with fellow trustees, Anne helped establish the Grampian Child Bereavement Network, a grassroots charity created to provide exactly that support. The organisation operated independently for its first ten years before joining The Archie Foundation family in 2019.
Since then, the service has continued to grow and now supports nearly 600 bereaved children each year across Grampian, Tayside and the Highlands. Anne has also served a full term as an Archie Trustee, continuing to help strengthen the charity’s work.

One of her nominations captured her impact beautifully “The work and effort she puts in behind the scenes is incredible. She visited us when my husband died and came into my home with respect, understanding and the most honest advice. She is patient, kind, and so very passionate about Archie’s Child Bereavement Service. She is there for every one of us with care and compassion and never any judgement. She is truly an inspiration to us all.”

Please join us in congratulating Anne and recognising her extraordinary dedication to supporting bereaved children and families. This AFFA is so well deserved👏

Stay tuned as we continue to introduce more of our wonderful winners🖤

🌟 Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Neonatal Chair! 🌟

Choosing our AFFA winners was no easy task. Every nomination was incredibly powerful, and our committee had the difficult job of selecting just a few from so many inspiring supporters✨

Award 15 – Kirsty Cox🏆Kirsty chaired the Neonatal Committee in Aberdeen for 10 years, further seeing the transition from 'Friends of the Neonatal Unit' into The Archie Foundation. She also went on to serve as an Archie Trustee for six years, continuing to champion the charity. Drawing from her own experiences, Kirsty has helped drive meaningful changes for babies and families in the neonatal unit. As her nomination beautifully put it, “She has so much love to give, receiving this award would recognise all the years she dedicated to the charity.”

Please join us in congratulating Kirsty and recognising her long-standing commitment, compassion and dedication to supporting neonatal families. This AFFA is so well deserved! 👏

🌟Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Arty Patron!🌟

Today we’re celebrating one truly dedicated supporter who has used the power of theatre, performance and community spirit to raise vital funds for Archie.

Award 14 – Alan McHugh🏆Alan, widely recognised for playing the iconic panto dame in Aberdeen’s pantomime, has been a passionate supporter of Archie for more than 15 years. He has also been a host for the Archie Variety Show for the past two years, bringing humour and heart to the stage. Over the years, Alan has invited colleagues to visit The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital to learn more about Archie’s work, helped bring festive cheer to young patients, and encouraged theatre audiences to donate to Archie’s yellow buckets during shows. Thanks to these efforts, those bucket collections alone have now raised over £100,000 for Archie!

Alan’s long-standing commitment has helped Archie support countless children and families. We are so grateful for everything he has done, and we were so pleased to present him with his AFFA, which actually left him speechless🖤

Stay tuned as we introduce more of our wonderful AFFA winners👏

Celebrating World Book Day in the Neonatal Unit ✨📚

We were delighted to help bring a little World Book Day magic to the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit this year. It was wonderful to see the unit filled with costumes, stories and smiles for families and staff 💜

A huge thank you to the wonderful NNU team and the families who took part and shared the joy of the day with us.

We loved seeing all the fantastic costumes, including:
⚓ Lochlan as a sailor from Moby Dick
🌈 Patsy as Elmer
🦸 Leo as Baby Incredible

And of course, a very special thank you to our amazing supporters. Your kindness helps make moments like these possible for babies and families in the neonatal unit 📖✨

🌟 Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Adventurous supporters! 🌟

We’re proud to celebrate some truly inspiring individuals whose determination and sense of adventure have helped raise vital funds for Archie.

Award 13 – Angela and Davie Hill🏆This amazing duo has been supporting Archie for more than six years, and they haven’t slowed down since. Angela is an active member of Archie’s Disco Ball Committee and also supports the Archie Variety Show, dedicating her time and energy to helping make these events a success. Davie has taken fundraising to new heights, quite literally! He completed an incredible Himalayan challenge, summiting four peaks before tackling the 20,000-foot glacier summit of Island Peak. Their passion, commitment and adventurous spirit make them a truly inspiring team of supporters. Unfortunately, they couldn't attend on the night of the AFFAs, but don’t worry, we’ll be presenting their award very soon!

Please join us in congratulating this wonderful couple. Their long-standing commitment has made a lasting difference to so many children and families.

You are both so deserving of an AFFA👏

🌟 Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Knitter! 🌟

Selecting the AFFA winners was no easy task. Every nomination was compelling, and you all made our committee's job very tough selecting just a few from so many incredible nominations✨

Award 12 – Sheila Peterson🏆This wonderful lady, also affectionately known as “Sheila from Shetland,” is a talented and incredibly dedicated supporter of Archie. Every two weeks, without fail, Sheila knits and sends two of her much loved Worry Monsters. Unfortunately, Sheila wasn’t able to join us on the night of the AFFAs, but don’t worry, her award is being held safely by two of her wonderful knitted creations, pictured below! As the person who nominated her put it so perfectly, “Sheila Peterson is a star”, and we couldn’t agree more⭐

Please join us in congratulating Shelia from Shetland for her long standing commitment to helping bring comfort to children all across the north east during difficult times!

You are so deserving of an AFFA👏

It’s time to register for Kiltwalk 2026!

Now is the time to sign up and join Team Archie in support of The Archie Foundation.

Every step you take will help us continue supporting babies in neonatal care, children across healthcare settings, and children who are coping with grief and loss through our bereavement services across the north of Scotland. The funds raised through Kiltwalk help us be there for children and families when they need support the most.

James walked with Team Archie last year and said:
“We had a great time last year and really enjoyed the sense of community at all the stops! It was great bumping into other people in the Archie colours and sharing stories.”

Walk with friends, family or colleagues, pull on an Archie t-shirt and be part of something truly special.

🌟 Let’s hear it for our AFFA winning Tayside supporters! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate four amazing individuals whose dedication has made a real difference to Archie’s work across Tayside.

Award 8 - Grant Rodney MBE🏆 Grant played a key role in Archie’s expansion beyond Grampian and was instrumental in developing children’s surgical and anaesthesia services in Tayside, including the award-winning twin theatre suite at Tayside Children’s Hospital in 2022. His kindness, compassion and ability to bring people together make a tangible difference, and his enthusiasm for Archie’s mission is infectious.

Award 9 - Ian Philp🏆Ian played an important role in Archie expanding into Tayside, serving as Chair of Archie’s Tayside Fundraising Committee for a number of years, including raising £2million which went to the theatre project in Dundee and the hugely successful Oor Wullie Bucket Trail public art project. We were so sorry that Ian couldn’t attend the AFFAs in person. We look forward to presenting his award to him soon!

Award 10 - Edith Christie🏆Edith is an exceptional volunteer whose dedication to Archie is truly inspiring. From keeping Archie stores in top shape to attending events and organising her own fundraisers, she consistently goes above and beyond and motivates everyone around her to get involved and support Archie!

Award 11 - Paul Fettes🏆Paul is the driving force behind Archie’s Mountain Challenge. He created the route, led teams who ran, biked and kayaked to conquer Scotland’s 130 highest mountains in just 15 days, he even documented the adventure in a fundraising book, and later rallied an even larger group to summit all 130 “Archies” on 4 June 2022, raising £100,000 for Archie all while working as a consultant paediatric anaesthetist at Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Please join us in congratulating these four remarkable individuals. Their long-standing commitment has made a lasting difference to so many children and families in Tayside and beyond.

You are all so deserving of an AFFA👏

Stay tuned as we introduce more of our wonderful winners🖤

Our Story

What do we do?

Since 1984 we have helped hundreds of families. Many spend a few days in the unit, while other babies need specialist care for longer. However long you are there it can be a worrying time, emotionally, physically and financially. All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Friends of the Neonatal Unit is used to benefit babies and their families during their stay and beyond. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, paediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.
