Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit

We are the official charity of the Neonatal Unit at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, supporting babies born too sick or too soon.

All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Archie at The Neonatal unit goes back into the Unit. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, pediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.

The Archie Corporate Golf Day is back and taking place on 14 May 2026 at the stunning Meldrum House Golf Course.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy your favourite pastime in a beautiful setting, while knowing you are making a difference to a local charity with community at heart. The day includes an 18-hole round, with breakfast and a BBQ dinner – and of course, competitions and fun throughout the day!

Whether you are entertaining clients, rewarding colleagues or simply spending time with friends, we look forward to welcoming you to the Archie Golf Day.

✨The 20th of February 2026, The Archie Founders & Friends Awards officially took place✨

The AFFAs attempted the well nigh impossible task of choosing 25 standout Archie supporters who deserve special recognition for the part they have played in shaping and growing The Archie Foundation into the incredible charity it is today. The task was in the end impossible, and 28 incredible supporters were presented with an AFFA!

From Archie's beginnings as a one-off fundraising appeal to support the build of a new children’s hospital in Aberdeen to now supporting babies, children and families right across North Scotland in healthcare and bereavement. This story has been powered by our amazing community.

The AFFAs was a night dedicated to celebrating YOU and the difference you make. Held in the beautiful Union Kirk, we honoured 28 incredible supporters, ranging from junior fundraisers and dedicated knitters to those who have been with Archie since the early days, as well as those who have made a significant impact in recent years. AFFA winners were nominated for by our incredible community. It was a truly special evening filled with memories, gratitude, and inspiration.

A huge thank you to Tickety Boo Cakes! 💙

Last year, the wonderful Lynn got in touch with us at The Archie Foundation, and we knew just the event for her to be part of, our AFFA's (Archie Friends & Founders Awards). And wow, just look at the cake!🍰

Lynn designed and created this absolute masterpiece, and honestly, many people thought it was a real Archie toy box! It was almost too incredible to cut… almost!💫

The cake was such a hit on the night, and with plenty left to share, Reti and Nathan took it along to the amazing, hardworking NHS Grampian staff at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. It truly made the day so special🏥

Supporting Families When It Matters Most 💙

In January 2026, families spent a total of 377 nights at The Archie Family Centre. We are so proud to provide a safe and welcoming space for families when they need it most. Our centre has 19 ensuite bedrooms, giving families somewhere to rest close to their little ones during incredibly stressful times.

Each night represents a family staying close to their child’s bedside, removing one more worry while their child is in hospital. The Archie Family Centre offers comfort, reassurance and a sense of normality when everything else can feel uncertain.

We remain committed to being there for every family who needs us. Sadly, we live in a time where many children experience bereavement, whether through the loss of a parent or another close family member. This is exactly why Archie’s Child Bereavement Service exists, to support children and families through one of the most difficult times they may ever face💙

Our service offers compassionate, tailored support, including guidance for families, bereavement books, resources, and activity days that help children feel less alone in their grief.

This support is available across all areas covered by Archie, with dedicated Bereavement Workers based at our headquarters in Aberdeen, as well as in our offices across the Highlands and Tayside.

💙✨Happy National Random Acts of Kindness Day!✨💙

To celebrate, Nathan and Reti made their way around Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Unit today, delivering bags of delicious chocolate treats to the amazing staff🍫

These small, unexpected acts of kindness brought some extra brightness to a snowy day and a well deserved smile to our NHS teams who work so hard caring for others every single day🩺💙

Their dedication, compassion and tireless work for babies, children and families never goes unnoticed, and today we just wanted to take a moment to say how appreciated you all are and thank you🌟

We hope you all had a lovely day with the people who mean the most to you. Archie was busy on Friday spreading the love around Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, making sure everyone who popped in received a special little treat💞

From glowing light up roses and beautiful knitted hearts, to colouring books and some delicious sweet treats. We hope these small gifts brought an extra smile and a little bit of happiness to you and your children's day🌹

A huge thank you to Gavin Harris and Jamie Haufe!💙

These two incredible individuals took on the Strathpuffer 2026 Race, a gruelling 24 hour mountain bike endurance challenge. Cycling through winds, icy roads, sub zero temperatures and snow, Gavin and Jamie pushed themselves to the limit in this cycling challenge🚵‍♂️

Taking on and completing such an extreme challenge is an amazing achievement in itself, and we cannot commend you both enough for your determination and resilience🌟

Together, they raised an incredible £1,765.75, which will help Archie continue our vital work supporting babies, children and families facing medical and bereavement challenges across the North East💫

We cannot thank you both enough for choosing to support Archie and for going above and beyond to make a real difference. You should both feel incredibly proud 🚴

Our Story

What do we do?

Since 1984 we have helped hundreds of families. Many spend a few days in the unit, while other babies need specialist care for longer. However long you are there it can be a worrying time, emotionally, physically and financially. All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Friends of the Neonatal Unit is used to benefit babies and their families during their stay and beyond. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, paediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.
