💙👶On the 20th day of Christmas, HCS gave something truly special to Archie👶💙

This Christmas, HCS has funded our Neonatal Counsellor for an entire month, providing vital emotional support to families in the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit.

A baby’s first Christmas should be filled with joy, but for some parents, it’s spent at their baby’s cot side during one of the most challenging times of their lives. Thanks to this support, parents and families have the chance to talk, process what they’re going through, and feel less alone💙

We are incredibly grateful to HCS for supporting the Neonatal Unit this December. This funding makes a real difference, offering comfort and care when it’s needed most.

Many children across north Scotland will be facing their first Christmas without a parent or loved one. Archie's Child Bereavement Service is here for those children - whether with practical advice and support, with books and tools to help process big feelings - or simply to be there to listen.

Our specially written books can help guide children through the grieving process - and our Archie Child Bereavement Service is always there over the Christmas period.

A gift of £100 can allow us to keep offering support free and quickly - will you help us be there for every child who needs us? 💙

Our friends at Aberdeen Performing Arts sent us this wonderful message to all the babies, families and NHS staff at the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit 💜

The Christmas Panto at His Majesty’s Theatre is a longstanding festive tradition, and every year the Panto Cast visit or send messages of joy to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital – and when they are able, they love to visit the neo-natal unit too!

Thank you so much for sending this lovely message to all the babies and families celebrating their very first Christmas - we appreciate you so much (Oh Yes We Do!)

🎄🐻On the 19th day of Christmas, Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Team delivered something truly special!🐻🎄

An incredible 438 cuddly teddies were donated to Archie through their annual teddy bear toss. Santa’s little helpers had the best time visiting each department and handing out these lovely bears ✨

We were sad that the Lynx players themselves couldn’t visit in person this year to hand them out. However, we’re already looking forward to welcoming them for a future visit very soon 🏒

The children were so excited to choose their very own teddy, and their smiles said it all. We are incredibly grateful to Aberdeen Lynx for making this magical experience possible.

A huge thank you to every fan who brought along a teddy to throw onto the ice. Your generosity helped create such special moments and brought joy to so many today 💙

🎄🎭On the 18th day of Christmas, Aberdeen Performing Arts very kindly gifted glow wands to RACH, along with specially recorded messages from the panto cast for children in hospital🎭🎄

We were really sad that the panto cast couldn't visit in person this year to deliver these. However, they recorded some beautiful messages and the wonderful play team called on Santa to deliver their gifts! 💙

The children had such a lovely time receiving their light-up wands, whether it was a rose, a star or even a dragon version! ✨

A huge thank you to the incredible generosity of Aberdeen Performing Arts and this year’s panto cast for making a special effort despite difficult circumstances. The children really appreciated your special messages 🎅

💙🎄 On the 17th Day of Christmas, Archie wants to extend a huge thank you to Davidsons Marine & Industrial Painters and Premier Coaches, and so many wonderful individuals who sponsored nights at our parent accommodation this December, helping us make room at the inn 💙🎄

When a baby or child is rushed to the hospital, their parents and family want to stay as close to them as possible. Those who live far from the hospital are faced with the truly difficult choice of paying rising hotel bills or returning home and leaving their child alone on the ward.

The Archie Family Centre in Aberdeen allows parents to stay close to their child in hospital when they are needed the most. From those flying down from Shetland for treatment, to those blue-lighted in from Banchory. Archie is here with a bed, shower and kitchen facilities to help take away that worry.

Could you help us this Christmas? A gift of £25 allows us to offer a free night of accommodation to a family when they need it most. Donate today at https://ow.ly/s4tb50XCTJ9

November was another significant month at the Archie Family Centre, with families spending a total of 418 nights with us throughout the month.

Behind each of those nights is a family needing to stay close while their baby or child receives hospital care. With our 19 ensuite rooms, each with a pull-out buddy bed, we are able to provide a safe, welcoming space, a home away from home, during what can be an incredibly challenging time.

The Archie Family Centre is free of charge for the families who stay with us; this is made possible entirely through the generosity of our supporters. Every night offered is funded by donations from people like you.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this support possible 💙

🎨🎁On the 16th day of Christmas, three amazing companies, Mackie's Ice Cream & Chocolate, HCS and Welsh & Taylor Wealth, each decided to gift Archie funding for Creative Activities 🎨🎁

This wonderful support means festive crafts, creative play materials and hands-on activities will be available to engage and amuse children in wards at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital right through December and into the new year! ✨

A huge thank you to these amazing donors who are helping us bring the magic of creativity to young patients during the festive season and beyond 💙

This generosity provides moments of joy that allow children to express themselves, have fun, and connect with others, just like their friends at home. These creative experiences make a real difference during what can be a challenging time 🌟

Could you join them and help us in 2026? We’d love to hear from you, get in touch at hello@archie.org 📧

🎅🧺On the 15th Day of Christmas, Worley generously gifted Archie festive hampers for every department at RACH🧺🎅

Team Archie was delighted to welcome a few Buddy the Elves to RACH today as we received these truly wonderful festive hampers 🎁

Our team had such an amazing day delivering the hampers around the hospital, each one filled with thoughtful goodies, including tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries, and a few extra surprises☕🍪

We hope each team enjoyed a well-earned festive pick-me-up during their break today, as a small token of appreciation for the incredible work they do every day 💙

A huge thank you once again to Worley for their incredible kindness and generosity in making this possible✨

Our Story

What do we do?

Since 1984 we have helped hundreds of families. Many spend a few days in the unit, while other babies need specialist care for longer. However long you are there it can be a worrying time, emotionally, physically and financially. All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Friends of the Neonatal Unit is used to benefit babies and their families during their stay and beyond. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, paediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.
