Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit

Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit We are the official charity of the Neonatal Unit at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, supporting babies born too sick or too soon.

All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Archie at The Neonatal unit goes back into the Unit. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, pediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.

A huge thank you to JBS!💜

We’re incredibly grateful to JBS for kindly allowing The Archie Foundation to use their suite at P&J Live to see a performance of Gabby's Dollhouse🐾

Five wonderful families got to experience what can only be described as an a-MEOW-zing experience! From the moment Gabby and her friends set off to fix the broken rainbow, there were smiles and so much excitement throughout 🌈

It was truly special to see the children fully immersed in the show, dancing and watching in awe. These are the kinds of experiences that create lasting memories for families.

We absolutely love being able to provide opportunities like this, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of supporters like JBS. Thank you again for helping us make such a difference💙

🐣💙A huge thank you to the Caterers Offshore Trade Association (COTA) companies!💙🐣

We were blown away by the incredible support shown to The Archie Foundation and The Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital during our Easter Appeal from COTA. Just look at the amazing number of eggs donated! 🍫

COTA, which represents companies supplying catering and support services to offshore rigs in the North Sea, truly went above and beyond. We were delighted to welcome representatives, including Daniel Moloney (Compass), Leanne Mitchell and Joe Patton (Aramark), Stuart Hunter (COTA Branch Chair), Graeme Neish (COTA Learning Rep), and Lynne George (Entier), alongside generous donations from RMT Union and Unite the Union🙌

A very special mention also goes to Ivy, who, at just 5 years old, created and donated the beautiful Easter activity bags to support her mum’s workplace efforts. Such a thoughtful and inspiring contribution!

Thanks to this wonderful generosity, our Easter Appeal brought so much joy to children and families in RACH over the Easter period. We are so grateful to everyone involved💙

💙A huge congratulations to the Uzowulu family!💙

Yesterday, brothers Daniel and David completed an incredible running challenge and what a journey it has been!🏃‍♂️

At the start of the year, Daniel (11) set himself a goal to fundraise for Archie. Inspired by his own experience, when his mum was able to stay at the Archie Family Centre while his brother David (16) was in hospital, he wanted to give back and help other families.

Despite not being a fan of running at first, Daniel pushed himself to take on a 10 day running challenge, and it quickly grew! With David joining him, the pair became an unstoppable duo. Together, they shared their story, promoted their fundraising page, and inspired so many people to get involved, even their school, International School Aberdeen, supported them during this journey!

Behind them, every step of the way was their incredible support network. From their mum Cynthia’s daily updates, to family and friends cheering them on, the encouragement was truly amazing 🙌

Their final day saw them complete a 5K at NHS Grampian's Royal Aberdeen Children's Hopsital, crossing the finish line surrounded by loved ones, Archie staff, and supporters. It was a fantastic moment and such a privilege to be part of their journey.

Together, they have raised an outstanding £2,170! Enough to fund 86 nights in the Archie Family Centre, helping parents stay close to their children during hospital stays.

A huge thank you to Daniel and David Uzowulu. We’ve loved watching your idea grow into something so powerful, and we are incredibly grateful for your support 💙

💍🤍Huge congratulations to Hayley & Gordon!🤍💍

In 2025, this wonderful couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony, and we were so honoured to be part of their special day.

Instead of traditional favours, Hayley and Gordon chose to support Archie by including our signature Archie teddy bears for the children and pin badges for the adults. A truly thoughtful touch that made their favours even more meaningful.

Their decision to support Archie was inspired by their friends son, Euan, who has received support from us, and the couple mentioned how special it was to see all the children enjoying their Archie teddies on the day.

If you’d like to find out more about our wedding favours and how your big day can make a difference to Archie, please email hello@archie.org, we’d love to hear from you!💌

A huge thank you to Clar, who hosted her very own Prematuri-Tea fundraiser at her workplace back in November 2025 💙

With the help of her colleagues, Clar organised a brilliant bake sale that saw an amazing turnout, both in delicious bakes and support. The cakes nearly sold out, fundraising was in full swing, and there was a real buzz throughout the day 🍰

A special mention also goes to her colleague Shaun, who supported the event and shared his own family’s experience of neonatal care. It was a powerful reminder that these journeys impact the whole family.

We are also incredibly grateful to Ithaca Energy for matching Clar’s fundraising efforts, bringing her total to an incredible £2101.04 👏

Clar chose to give back after her own experience with neonatal care, and thanks to her kindness and dedication, more babies and families will receive the support they need.

Thank you, Clar! 💙

In February, our financial support continued to make a meaningful difference for babies, children and families facing incredibly challenging circumstances💙

From providing emergency help with travel, food and essentials during unexpected hospital stays, to supporting families attending specialist appointments far from home, we are here when it matters most.

We also funded vital equipment tailored to children with complex needs, helped families maintain specialist diets, and provided support during long hospital admissions for serious conditions. Alongside this, we were able to offer funding for specialist training for our NHS colleagues.

Every request we receive tells a different story, but they all share one thing in common: the need for support, quickly and without added stress.

Every contribution helps us continue this work, supporting children’s health, comfort and wellbeing when they need it most.

If things feel hard right now, please reach out. We are here for you 💙

✨Meet Annia!✨

Annia was supported by Archie during her time at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital while undergoing an operation. This meant spending a lot of time at RACH, where Archie staff got to know Annia and her family💙

Throughout it all, one thing always shone through, Annia’s love for dance and performing. So we were absolutely thrilled to see her continue following that passion. From taking part in numerous dance clubs to lighting up the stage in our previous two Archie Variety Shows, she has gone from strength to strength.

Most recently, she travelled all the way to Phoenix, Arizona, to compete in the World Line Dance Championships and came home with an incredible title… World Junior Dance Champion!🌍💃

Not only that, she achieved an amazing 8 Gold Graduates and 2 Honours Grades. What an incredible accomplishment, huge congratulations, Annia! 🏆

We can’t wait to see stars like Annia back on stage at this year’s Archie Variety Show… and if her story has inspired a young performer in your life, we have some exciting news! 🎤🎭

Variety Show registration is OPEN!

The show celebrates children who have been supported by The Archie Foundation or NHS Grampian in any way, including through hospital care, neonatal support, or bereavement services.

The Archie Variety Show is open to any young person! We warmly welcome every participant and are here to guide, support and nurture them throughout the journey. Our goal is simple, to help each child shine on stage🌟

Our Story

What do we do?

Since 1984 we have helped hundreds of families. Many spend a few days in the unit, while other babies need specialist care for longer. However long you are there it can be a worrying time, emotionally, physically and financially. All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Friends of the Neonatal Unit is used to benefit babies and their families during their stay and beyond. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, paediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.
