Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children. We provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Play Leader and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker. We buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams

can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality care. We buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.

A huge good luck to all colleagues at NHS Grampian RACH today!💙

Archie Bear was delighted to be part of the welcoming committee, greeting appraisers from the American Nurses Association as the hospital enters the final and most influential stage of their rigorous four-year journey towards achieving Magnet designation for nursing excellence🌟

They were given a true Scottish welcome, complete with bagpipes, highland dancers and a sea of saltires waving as they arrived at RACH!

Magnet is an internationally recognised framework that assesses organisations against the highest standards of nursing excellence and the RACH staff team have been working tirelessly towards their goal of becoming the first hospital in Scotland AND the UK’s first children’s hospital to achieve Magnet designation.

This week’s appraiser visit is the final stage of RACH’s Magnet Journey and our NHS colleagues are very excited to showcase the strength of their dedication, commitment and teamwork when it comes to delivering excellence in nursing and, most especially, excellence in terms of patient outcomes and experiences.

Best of luck to everyone involved💫

🥂💙A huge thank you to Vale of Alford Young Farmers💙🥂

Last year, this fantastic group hosted a Ladies Day in aid of several charities, including Archie and we were so thankful to be chosen🙌

The event was a huge success, with everyone enjoying a wonderful afternoon tea, prosecco, fun games, and fantastic music. It was clear from the smiles and atmosphere that a brilliant time was had by all.

That incredible energy truly showed in the fundraising total, with the event raising just over £11,000! We were absolutely delighted to receive an amazing £2,753.85💫

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a special day, and to all who attended and supported. Your generosity makes a real difference 💙

What an amazing transformation in just a couple of days!!

One of the patients in the Highland Children's Unit was looking out of their window onto a brick wall. He was so bored, he actually spent his time counting all of the bricks. The nursing staff decided they needed to do something about that!!

So they asked The Archie Foundation if we could have a board fixed to the wall outside the window, which we did. Step up Marc Delaye at FRESH PAINT who transformed this board into an amazing Scottish Landscape.

Armed with his countless cans of spray paint, he created this amazing piece of art in only two days.

Thank you so much Marc, you have given future patients at the Highland Children's Unit something incredible to look at for years to come.

We’re proud to highlight a recent project, inspired by Gillian Duncan, Healthcare Support Worker in the Paediatric Assessment Unit at NHS Grampian RACH.

Gillian reached out with the idea of introducing pictorial menus for non-verbal children, helping them to make their own decisions where able, around mealtimes, snacks and drinks🍽️

As Gillian shared, children with complex needs can sometimes have choices made on their behalf at meal times. She is passionate about ensuring these children are supported to be as independent as possible, have choices, and be heard!💫

The Archie Foundation helped bring this idea to life by creating eye-catching visual menus, supporting communication and independence in a meaningful way.

In March, our financial support continued to make a meaningful difference for babies, children and families facing incredibly challenging circumstances 💙

From providing emergency help with travel, food and everyday essentials during unexpected hospital stays, to supporting families attending specialist appointments far from home, we are here when it matters most.

In Aberdeen Neonatal Unit, we purchased a new replacement table for the parents’ lounge, helping to improve the comfort of this shared space for families spending long periods on the ward. Following conversations between one of our neonatal volunteers and a 10-year-old sibling, a need was identified for more age-appropriate resources for older children visiting the unit. In response, we updated the sibling supplies with new pens and colouring books, building blocks, DVDs, and books suitable for older children, helping siblings feel included and supported during visits.

Every request we receive tells a different story, but they all share one thing in common: the need for support, quickly and without added stress.

Every contribution helps us continue this work, supporting children’s health, comfort and wellbeing when they need it most.

If things feel hard right now, please reach out. We are here for you 💙
