Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children. We provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Play Leader and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker. We buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality care. We buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.

Supporting Families When It Matters Most 💙

In January 2026, families spent a total of 377 nights at The Archie Family Centre. We are so proud to provide a safe and welcoming space for families when they need it most. Our centre has 19 ensuite bedrooms, giving families somewhere to rest close to their little ones during incredibly stressful times.

Each night represents a family staying close to their child’s bedside, removing one more worry while their child is in hospital. The Archie Family Centre offers comfort, reassurance and a sense of normality when everything else can feel uncertain.

We remain committed to being there for every family who needs us. Sadly, we live in a time where many children experience bereavement, whether through the loss of a parent or another close family member. This is exactly why Archie’s Child Bereavement Service exists, to support children and families through one of the most difficult times they may ever face💙

Our service offers compassionate, tailored support, including guidance for families, bereavement books, resources, and activity days that help children feel less alone in their grief.

This support is available across all areas covered by Archie, with dedicated Bereavement Workers based at our headquarters in Aberdeen, as well as in our offices across the Highlands and Tayside.

💙✨Happy National Random Acts of Kindness Day!✨💙

To celebrate, Nathan and Reti made their way around Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Unit today, delivering bags of delicious chocolate treats to the amazing staff🍫

These small, unexpected acts of kindness brought some extra brightness to a snowy day and a well deserved smile to our NHS teams who work so hard caring for others every single day🩺💙

Their dedication, compassion and tireless work for babies, children and families never goes unnoticed, and today we just wanted to take a moment to say how appreciated you all are and thank you🌟

We were really pleased to support a recent patient safety project identified by the allergy nurse at RACH 💙

It was recognised that there was a need for clear posters to highlight when a child has a food allergy during their hospital stay. Food allergies are incredibly important to keep in mind, and making this information clearly visible helps staff and visitors provide safe and appropriate care.

We were delighted to design and provide these posters, which can now be found in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Dr Gray’s Hospital 💙

Sometimes a simple idea can make a meaningful difference.

We hope you all had a lovely day with the people who mean the most to you. Archie was busy on Friday spreading the love around Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, making sure everyone who popped in received a special little treat💞

From glowing light up roses and beautiful knitted hearts, to colouring books and some delicious sweet treats. We hope these small gifts brought an extra smile and a little bit of happiness to you and your children's day🌹

💫💙A huge thank you to Melissa, Penny and Kian!💙💫

These amazing academy aged pupils have been completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award, and as part of it, they’ve all volunteered with us here at The Archie Foundation.

They’ve worked alongside Nathan and have supported the charity each and every week. Their help over the past year has truly made a difference 🌟

- Kian has now completed his Bronze Award volunteering and has officially graduated, huge kudos to him!
- Penny is currently completing her Bronze Award and is almost finished.
- Melissa has completed her Silver Award and has continued with Archie to now complete her Gold Award, an incredible achievement.

Volunteers are a vital part of helping us continue our mission to support babies, children and families facing medical and bereavement challenges across the North East💙

A huge thank you to Aberdeen Performing Arts and everyone who attended the 2025 pantomime of Cinderella!🎭

His Majesty’s Theatre very generously hosted Archie collection buckets during the pantomime, and thanks to the incredible generosity of audiences, an amazing £18,790.07 was raised! 💙

It was so lovely to meet with Rachel and Sharon this week at the cheque presentation and talk about the huge impact this support will have on Archie initiatives 🌟
