Rumination vs Worry
They’re Not the Same
Rumination keeps you stuck in the past
“Why did that happen?”
“What’s wrong with me?”
Worry pulls you into the future
“What if something goes wrong?”
“What if I can’t cope?”
Both feel like problem solving, but often they are mental loops, not solutions.
Try this shift:
Ask yourself: Is this thought helping me act, or just keeping me stuck?
If it’s not helpful, gently redirect:
* Ground in the present
* Take one small action
* Offer yourself compassion
You don’t have to solve everything in your head. Some things heal through patience, support, and self-kindness. Self compassion and gratitude.
