A massive congratulations to our Peterhead Community Support Worker, Nicole, who recently achieved her SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) 🥳🌟

Nicole completed her SVQ in-house with Aberness and was supported by our SVQ co-ordinator, Gail. Nicole was asked how she found the experience and here is what she had to say:

“I really dreaded doing my SVQ, I felt anxious and didn’t think I would manage it. I’ve always found it difficult to stay focused on written work, as I learn much better through practical, hands-on experience. Because of this, I worried that I wouldn’t have the attention span or confidence to complete it. However, Gail immediately put me at ease and was an excellent support throughout and helped guide me whenever I felt unsure. As I progressed, my confidence grew, and I began to feel much more capable. Completing my SVQ has helped me understand the reasons behind many of the things I do in my job every day— things I had previously done automatically without really thinking about them.”

Nicole, we are all super proud of you and hope you will be celebrating this amazing achievement 🤩🥂

⭐ December (2025) Employee of the Month - Community ⭐️

A belated congratulations to our Community Support Worker, Rosy, who was recognised as Employee of the Month in December 2025 (visited the office this week to collect her gifts).

Rosy is part of our Peterhead team and has been since April 2025.

Rosy has made a significant impact to her team in a short space of time; colleagues and clients are forthcoming in praising Rosy for her positive endeavours.

A development to our recent 2025 satisfaction survey offered staff the opportunity to submit nomination(s) for our Employee of the Month scheme. Rosy received nominations from her colleagues, who submitted the below comments.

“I think she is such a bubbly and lovely lady and all the clients are always happy to see her”
“She goes above and beyond in her job role, she is a pleasure to be doubled up with, just a lovely caring person.”

We additionally received a Facebook message from the family member of a client, who reached out spontaneously to highlight Rosy’s positive work.

“I would like to let you know about one of your carers who attend my ***. Her name is Rosy and she is the loveliest person always going above and beyond. Nothing is too much trouble. I always feel you hear negative reports but she is an angel and a pleasure to be in our house thank you.”

Rosy dedicates her working time predominantly to morning/lunch shifts, however, is always prepared to help out with tea/bed shifts when needed. Rosy will, too, consent to working a variety of client rotas to help aid shift cover.

Rosy, thank you for representing Aberness in a positive light. You always attend work with a positive attitude, and the work you do makes a real difference to your local community 💜💚

• £16.00 p/h Sat-Sun
• Mileage paid

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Caring and kind nature
• 17 years of age +
• Full driving license and access to a car

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at The Chester Hotel yesterday evening to celebrate 13 amazing years of Aberness Care.

⭐ January Employee of the Month - Community ⭐

I am pleased to announce that our first 2026 Employee of the Month was awarded to Ellon Community Support Worker, Eleanor.

Eleanor has been part of Aberness for 2½ years now and is dedicated to our Ellon team.

During the adverse weather conditions last month, Eleanor responded to a crisis situation (on more than one occasion) by travelling out to Mintlaw to attend to care visits there. The support Eleanor offered during these crisis situations, significantly reduced the risk level in Mintlaw.

Eleanor adopts a flexible approach towards shift cover and is forthcoming in offering to swap rotas/areas, where it is evident her Team Manager, Elaine, or oncall team are struggling for shift cover. Eleanor’s willingness to help extends to her colleagues, whereby she will offer to help out with extra client visits to allow staff, who are running late, to catch up with their rota.

The staff who work alongside Eleanor often comment on her high standard of practice and easy-going approach during double up visits. Similarly, clients mention Eleanor’s name during client reviews and communicate how much her company is enjoyed and appreciated.

Eleanor, thank you for all you contribute to Aberness. The continuous support you offer to Ellon, and surrounding areas, is immensely appreciated 💜💚
