Yoga with Simone Ashtanga Yoga Classes. Vigorous and athletic Yoga; a dynamic and flowing sequence of movements. Yoga is about learning to focus your energy.

Sports training can leave you strong in some areas, but inflexible and weak in others. Runners tend to have tight hamstrings, cyclists tight quadriceps, those swimming a lot complain from tired and aching shoulders, golfers and tennis plays may have more freedom of rotation in one direction but not the other. And generally those who are doing a mixed fitness regime can have aches and pains where pressure is put on the body through impactful exercise. Itโ€™s about learning to block out everything and focus on one thing, this will help prepare you to focus on your training practice, getting the most from your physical exercise. It will help you focus, perform better and connect you to your body and breath. A mix of Asana (Physical movements) and good Pranayama (Yoga breathing exercises) can help prevent injury, as breath control has athletic healing benefits. The Ashtanga yoga poses will focus on strengthening and lengthening your leg muscles and help to improve your flexibility, preparing your body for your other fitness regime.

Happy New Year โœจto my Yogis near and far.

As we step into a new year, I invite you to pauseโ€ฆ breatheโ€ฆ and set an intention, not a goal.

Goals often focus on an outcome: achieve this, fix that, get there by a certain date. And while goals can be motivating, they can also create pressure, judgment, and that feeling of โ€œfailureโ€ when life inevitably shifts.

Intentions are different.

An intention is about how you want to show up, not what you must accomplish.

๐ŸŒฑ Goals say: I must practice yoga 5 times a week.
๐ŸŒฑ Intentions say: I choose to move my body with kindness and consistency.

Intentions:
Are flexible and adapt with life
Invite curiosity instead of perfection
Keep you connected to your values, even on hard days
Can be practiced again and again, every single day

In yoga, we donโ€™t force a pose โ€” we meet ourselves where we are. The same is true for the year ahead.

As you move into this new chapter, ask yourself:
โœจ How do I want to feel?
โœจ What energy do I want to bring into my days?

Carry that intention onto your matโ€ฆ and off it.

Merry Christmas to all my Yogis and thanks to you all for turning up, getting on your mat with me this year and taking time each week for self care.

We reflected last night in our last session of the year:

- Prioritise you - Take time for your own self care this festive period, where you would normally prioritise everyone else.

- less stressing the small stuff, does it really matter if that last minute stocking filler is purchased? your loved ones will be happy with whatever they receive from you if itโ€™s given with love ๐Ÿ’•

- who really cares if the Xmas turkey ๐Ÿฆƒ or ๐ŸŒฐ nut roast is a bit overdone, itโ€™s the effort and time you took to get it on the plate that really counts.

- take time to breath, get outside and get fresh air in your lungs and take a walk, if you feel sluggish, overwhelmed, stressed or just had enough of the festive TV, then a festive forest ๐ŸŒณ walk is a great way to unwind and clear your head

- we reflected on what we are grateful for, our health, our happiness, our loved ones

- be kind to others, they may be having a down day

Last nights class was the last one of the year. See you all back in class on 12th January.

Winter well-being event- Saturday 15th November 9.30-12pm @ the cults Kirk centre, cults Aberdeen.

If you have never ventured to our retreat days yet then why not try it out for size. The yoga is gentle, the relaxation and breath work is awesome to help you unwind and prepare for the winter months ahead.

Our winter wellbeing theme will focus on being at one with winter, the importance of nature connection, self-care rituals, light exposure, cold therapy, and mindful eating.
