This week, we were lucky to welcome two students from John Mason School for their work experience!

As part of their placement, they were each challenged to design a project addressing a real need in the community. Their ideas were thoughtful, inspiring, and incredibly relevant:
One explored how community football can support and improve mental health
The other focused on ways to better support young people living with domestic abuse at home

Both students have been an absolute asset to The Abingdon Bridge and to the wider community this week.

Here are a few photo highlights

Hi. My name is Ella youth ambassador for TAB and this is my project ‘Our Story’.

I am creating this project to shine light on the extremely long waiting times for NHS funded Autism and ADHD Assessments in Oxfordshire. Currently both the adult Autism and ADHD services for a diagnosis are closed and have been for a long time because of how long the waiting list reached, so there is nowhere to get diagnosed as an adult in Oxfordshire.
The child and teen services also have long waiting lists.
I am doing this project to share mine and other people’s stories to show the world we are not just a statistic! We are real people on the other side of the referral form.
I want to be able to bring awareness around this.

We are asking people to come forward who would be happy to share their story on this subject. This would be a poster with your story written on it, plus a headshot style photo of you. These will be displayed on several occasions around different locations, and around local town centres.
We are carrying out interviews at 19 Bridge Street on 23rd and 30th April between 1:30-4:30pm to have a chat with those who would like to get involved and share their journey with the Autism and ADHD Wait Times in Oxfordshire. This time will also include taking your picture. Let’s shine some light on this subject and come together to make a change!

Erin - Junior youth worker for The Abingdon Bridge - wanted to share a post to celebrate International Women's Day 💕 to strong women, may we be them, may we know them!

Happy International Women’s Day ❤️
At The Abingdon Bridge we know that supporting young women’s mental health means creating spaces where they feel heard, valued, and empowered to be themselves. Every young person deserves the confidence to speak up, the support to navigate challenges, and the opportunity to thrive.
This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to stand alongside the women in our community, championing their wellbeing, amplifying their voices, and working towards a future where every young person knows that they are not alone.
Erin TAB x

Erin runs a young women's group weekly focusing on self esteem - if you know a young women who would benefit, get in touch!

We're feeling the love at TAB, thank you to everyone who sponsored a room for young people. We are constantly amazed by the humans in this community.

Because of you, young people have a safe space and the support they deserve.

From all of us at TAB, thank you for being part of something so powerful.

Hello!

We’re looking for a handful of lovely local people or businesses to sponsor one of our therapy rooms at The Abingdon Bridge.

Each room is a safe, warm space where young people can sit with a trusted adult, talk things through, and feel a little less alone. They’re used every day, with each room supporting around 20 young people every week, that’s a lot of listening, care, and cups of tea.
Sponsoring a room costs £500 for the year. Your name (or business name) will be displayed on the door, shared on our social media, and you’ll receive an annual update showing the difference your room has helped make.
If you, or someone you know, could help, you’d be making a very real difference to young people in our community.
One room, One conversation at a time.
Please email info@theabingdonbridge.org.uk for more information!

A very Happy New Year from all of us at The Abingdon Bridge 🤍

As we step into 2026, we wanted to begin by celebrating the incredible people who make our town what it is. From the volunteers at the food bank, to our mayor, to the young people giving their time and energy back to their community and so many others.

These are the community heroes who create spaces of care, connection and hope in Abingdon. Some you’ll see featured here, many quietly working behind the scenes, all making a difference.

Please click the link below to hear their stories, their journeys, and their hopes for the town we all call home.

We know these are tough times. It’s not just charities feeling the pressure, it’s local businesses, families, and young people facing rising costs and uncertainty. But at TAB, our commitment remains strong.
In 2026, we will continue to stand alongside this town and its young people, offering support, hope and space to grow because community matters, now more than ever!

We’re not sure where to begin in celebrating our first Community Hero Paul Blair He is a force in everything he puts his mind to. His story, which he shares some of in the video below, is one of real change and determination. Paul is an inspiration and living proof that you can choose a different path and build a new life.
He has poured love, time, and significant funding into TAB and our young people. His very first fundraising event was at Christmas, when he chose to sleep out and experience homelessness in order to raise support. Most recently, he donated £1,000 from his boxing event night.
This year, Paul also ran the marathon alongside one of our team members, who was blown away by how deeply Paul dug to reach the finish line.
We are incredibly proud to be supported by you, Paul. “Thank you” never feels quite enough, but please know how truly and deeply it’s meant.
