Birth trauma isn’t always about the birth itself but about being heard and respected.

It’s the process of making a birth plan rather than any written plan that’s important.

Everyone should have the support they need. Offering free doula support was an essential part of why I set up over 15 years ago. It wasn’t a popular decision amongst some in the birth world, but I saw it as essential.

🖊️I’ve a number of bits of art on the home office wall. Here’s one.. (I’ll put some others in stories) I should remember this more often. In the midst of mum life, it can be hard to remember the bigger stuff.

These flowers blooming on the windowsill reminded me of caring for ourselves as mums/ parents/ humans. We strive for the best. But we need the right conditions. Just like these flowers, we need the right conditions to grow and bloom. If we are stressed then the cortisol keeps us in survival mode, not thriving. This goes for birth and parenting too. If we aren’t being cared for, by ourselves and others then we can’t bloom. What conditions are needed is as individual as flowers and plants. Some need shade, others full sun. What do you need? What do you want? How can you support yourself to bloom?

Frequently asked questions....

✨ What is your address?

Accrington Therapy Centre
247, whalley Road
Accrington
BB5 5AD

We are on the corner of Whalley Road and Pilot Street.

✨ How do I know what therapy would support me best?

We offer an initial consultation to give you the opportunity to tell us about yourself and what you are looking for from therapy. We can then give you information about different therapies and our therapists.

✨ Do you work evenings and weekends?

Yes we do. We have therapists who work until 8pm during the week and weekends

✨ How do I book a session?

If you know the therapist you would like to book you can contact them directly. Alternatively, you can contact Accrington Therapy Centre on 07799321413 and we will forward your details to the correct therapist.

✨ How long is your waiting list?

Majority of our therapists will be able to see you within a week of you contacting us. Occasionally, our therapists are full so will use a short waiting list.

✨ Will I see the same therapist for all my sessions?

Yes, once you have started working with a therapist you will continue to see that person. Where appropriate we can refer you to a different therapist to access a different modality, therefore you will see a new therapist. This ensures you are accessing the best support for your needs.

✨ Do I need to bring anything with me to my sessions?

No, unless you are working on something specifically with your therapist.

✨ How much are the sessions?

This depends on the therapist and modality you access. Sessions start at £45 per 1 hour session. We also have a couple of therapists who offer free sessions.

✨ Do you only offer face to face sessions?

No, we also work online and via telephone.

✨ Can I access your service if I live outside of Hyndburn?

Yes, we can work with people who live in other areas of the UK or even different countries where relevant.

✨ If you have any other questions please drop them in this post or contact us directly ✨

💐💪Happy Mothers’ Day! 💪💐 Motherhood is definitely undervalued as it’s the most important and powerful “job” in a society. Without mothers humanity dies.
Some days are amazing, other days are hard. Us mums are criticised however we choose to live our lives. Right from how we birth our babies we feel the weight of judgement from society and our own “am I good enough”. Breastfeed, formula feed, home birth, epidural, doing enough home work, going to enough “extra curricular” activities, working, stay home mum, screen time, good diet, enough holidays, etc etc.
All that really matters is you’re there for them unconditionally to guide them to be the best they can.
There’s no manuals for motherhood. We’re all winging it.
In case no one tells you today, You are amazing! You’ve got this!
