Approaching Valentine’s Day it gives us time to reflect on how we give and receive love - a hot topic I like to explore in therapy. Like all things awareness is information and we can learn a lot from matters of the heart!

So if you’ve not done so yet time to tell those loved ones, neighbours, friends & teachers that they are cherished & appreciated for simply being them. What love language do you like to receive and what do you give out?

We hear the terminology ‘Gaslighting’ a lot more these days. Many of us experience/recieve this type of toxic behaviour so it’s important to know what it is and how it manifests. If you think you have experienced Gaslighting behaviours from a work colleague, partner, family member or friend therapy can help you manage and provide effective solutions to navigate it and its effects!

This weather is rather grim. We’re all deficient in vitamin D and in the throws of ‘Blue’ January. So if you suffer with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) then this will be very real for you. Just hold in your mind the first bursts of daffodils & snowdrops are appearing, bringing hope that spring is on its way!

Have you checked in with yourself lately? Does it feel strange to do so? Life can be loud & distracting. If you struggle to be in the ‘moment’ then try music as a facilitator. Music has a special way of touching our souls and highlighting painful areas. Find a piece you like, lay or sit, focus on the sound waves, your breathing and what comes up for you. If you don’t know where to start I can personally always rely on my favourite composer Hans Zimmer to intrance/move me. ‘Cornfield’, ‘spectres in the fog’ or ‘Time’ are all incredibly evocative. If classical is more your thing Gustav Holst. The planets. Jupiter - the bringer of Jollity.

MIND is a mental health charity very close to my heart both personally and professionally since 2019. The services they offer are amazing. I will always advocate for them and what they stand for 💪leaving this here for anyone needing support
