💗 Cervical Screening in Scotland Saves Lives 💗

Cervical screening is a vital part of women’s healthcare in Scotland. Through NHS Scotland, screening helps prevent cervical cancer by finding changes in cervical cells before cancer can develop.

🩺 If you’re aged 25–64 and registered with a GP in Scotland, you’ll be invited for cervical screening every 5 years.

Cervical screening now tests for HPV (human papillomavirus), which causes most cervical cancers. If HPV isn’t found, your risk of cervical cancer is very low.

The test is usually quick and done by a trained nurse. It can feel uncomfortable or embarrassing, but support is always available — you can ask questions, request a chaperone, or talk through any concerns beforehand.

💬 If you’ve received your NHS Scotland invitation, please don’t ignore it. Attending screening could save your life.

📣 Let’s normalise talking about cervical screening and encourage friends, sisters, mums and colleagues to attend their appointments.
