And the light really is returning… ✨

We’re gaining around 7 minutes of daylight every two days right now. Over the next month, that adds up to almost 2 extra hours of light. It’s something that quietly lifts the spirit — and it also has a very real effect on our bodies.

We are deeply governed by natural rhythms, and light is the strongest regulator of our internal clock. These small daily increases begin to gently shift our hormones, influencing our energy, mood, and sleep.

More daylight supports serotonin production (helping to lift our mood), while also delaying early melatonin release — easing that familiar afternoon slump.

If you can, step outside within the first hour of waking — even just 5 minutes helps. Morning natural light sends a powerful signal to your nervous system and can improve sleep later that night.

🌿 Back to School — It’s All About The Breath

Back to school can bring a mix of emotions for our children — excitement, nerves, overwhelm, and sometimes big feelings they don’t yet have words for.

As routines begin again, one of the most powerful tools we can give our children is something they already carry with them…their breath 🤍

Helping children build their own self-care toolbox gives them gentle ways to feel calm, safe and in control, wherever they are.

✨ Try this simple breathing technique together ✨

Ask your child to imagine they are holding their favourite flower in one hand and a candle in the other.

🌸 Slowly breathe in through the nose, smelling the flower.
🕯️ Then gently breathe out through the mouth, blowing out the candle.
🌿 Repeat together for 5 slow breaths.

Slow breathing helps signal to the nervous system that it is safe, calming the body and settling busy thoughts.

Practising these moments together before school, at bedtime, or whenever your child needs reassurance can make such a difference.

Our children already have incredible built-in superpowers… sometimes they just need reminding how to use them 🤍

It can be easy to feel the heaviness of February.
I’ve certainly felt it this week; the lingering cold, the relentless rain, the sense that winter has gone on just a little too long.

And yet… nature is already whispering signs of hope.

The days are slowly lengthening, and snowdrops are beginning to appear - delicate yet powerful reminders that lighter, brighter days are ahead.

These gentle stirrings can be easy to miss in our busy lives, but we are actually in a beautiful seasonal moment known as Imbolc - a turning point between the deep stillness of winter and the quiet beginnings of spring.

This time is not quite winter, and not quite spring.
It is a sacred pause.

A time to move slowly.
To rest a little longer.
To gently gather energy for the growth that lies ahead.

In many traditions, this is also a time to tend our inner waters, nourishing the kidneys, the home of our deepest vitality and life essence, known as Jing.

Jing is our foundational energy, supporting growth, hormonal balance, fertility, resilience, and our ability to adapt to change.

Like the snowdrop, we don’t need to rush.

Gentle, steady nourishment is enough 🌱

Using gentle thumb walks down the spine reflex, we release the back muscles and soften the whole body.

Finish with slow circular movements to relax the muscles and soothe the nerve endings — a lovely way to rest and reset.

• Sink into a deeply restful Yoga Nidra, inviting you to turn inward and slow down

A simple way to calm and centre — for yourself or a loved one. 🌿

While showing this little technique I am using essential oils to ground the senses and soothe the body.
Massage gently into the feet, stimulate the solar plexus reflex, pause, breathe in deeply… then press into the solar plexus point to release tension and recentre.

A small ritual for peace and connection — something you can offer at the end of a long day.
