⭐Today is !

Many things that affect our health cannot be treated by
doctors or medicine alone, like loneliness, isolation or stress
due to problems with debt or housing. Social prescribing
connects people to non-medical support to address these
issues and other unmet needs.

If you would like support from a social prescriber, get in touch with the surgery. We can submit a referral to our local team who will help you get the support you need.

🩺 Meningitis B Update
With the recent Meningitis B outbreak, many patients have been asking about vaccine availability.

At this time, the Meningitis B vaccine is not being offered routinely on the NHS for anyone outside the standard child immunisation schedule.

If you are not eligible for the routine programme and would still like to be vaccinated, the Meningitis B vaccine can be given privately through some pharmacies and private healthcare providers.

You can learn more about meningitis vaccinations on the NHS website👇 https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/meningitis/vaccination/

Visit the NHS website for information on the symptoms of meningitis and what to do if you are concerned. 👇

Most of the time, our kidneys work normally without any issues but sometimes they can be damaged or stop working so well. This is known as chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD is a condition that affects over 7 million people in the UK.

Kidney damage can be slowed or managed with treatment so early detection is vital.

We’re reminding parents to make sure their children are up to date with their MMR vaccinations. 2 doses of the MMR/MMRV vaccine provide the best protection against measles, mumps and rubella.

Contact the Surgery if you think your child has missed either of their 2 doses.

Urgent NHS dental appointments are now available for the following conditions:

• Severe toothache: persistent and intense pain that cannot be managed with over-the-counter painkillers.
• Dental abscess: infection causing swelling, pain, and possibly fever.
• Broken or knocked-out tooth: trauma resulting in a fractured or completely dislodged tooth.
• Bleeding in mouth following a dental procedure or an injury that doesn’t stop by itself but can be self-controlled using local measures. Note that if bleeding cannot be self-controlled in any way, emergency care may be necessary.
• Swelling: significant swelling in the mouth or face that could indicate an infection.
• Fractured, loose or displaced fillings causing pain.
• Severe bleeding from gums, or acute conditions affecting other soft areas of the mouth (such as cheeks or tongue) which require urgent treatment.
