πŸ€’ We’re seeing a rise in measles cases in our region, and it’s a reminder of how quickly these illnesses can spread.

The measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine offers the best protection – just two doses provide long-lasting immunity and help keep children, families and communities safe this winter. β›„

You can check your vaccination status online using the NHS App. If you think you or your child have missed any routine vaccinations please contact the practice.

πŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month πŸŽ€
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, affecting 1 in 7 women during their lifetime. Raising awareness helps save lives through early detection, support, and research. πŸ’—
πŸ’ Did you know?
Men can get breast cancer too (though it’s rarer).
Checking your breasts regularly helps spot changes early.
Early diagnosis gives the best chance of successful treatment.
πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ This October, you can:
βœ”οΈ Check your breasts (look and feel for any unusual changes).
βœ”οΈ Book a screening if you’re invited.
βœ”οΈ Wear pink or join a fundraising event to show support.
βœ”οΈ Share information to help others stay aware.
βœ”οΈ Support charities funding vital research and care.
Every small step makes a difference β€” whether it’s spreading awareness, raising funds, or simply reminding a loved one to check themselves. Together, we can make an impact. πŸ’ͺπŸ’—

🚭 October is Stoptober - your chance to take control of your health and quit smoking for good πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Whether you've quit, started again, or switched to va**ng, it’s vital to let your doctor know. Why? Because smoking directly affects the treatment and management of long-term conditions like:
❀️ Coronary heart disease (CHD)
🦡 Peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
🧠 Stroke or TIA
πŸ’‰ High blood pressure (hypertension)
🩸 Type 2 diabetes
🫁 COPD and asthma (in adults)
πŸ’ History of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
🚰 Chronic kidney disease (CKD)

Your smoking status plays a big role in your care plan. Don’t keep it to yourself - tell your GP.

πŸ’¬ Want to quit? Help is out there:
πŸ‘‰ Speak to your GP
πŸ‘‰ Call the NHS Smokefree Helpline 0300 123 1044
πŸ‘‰ Or visit: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/quit-smoking/nhs-stop-smoking-services-help-you-quit/

Every day smoke-free is a win πŸ†
