For World Kindness Day and for every day…..

We are compelled to carry our burdens all alone; to do our healing in isolation and as individuals.

If you see that someone is suffering, offering a listening ear (and TRULY listening deeply is what I mean - not listening to respond or listening to rush in and fix) you can play your part in building community and a collective space for that one person. And all others.

Of course, we often can’t see that someone is suffering. So actively choosing to be kind so it simply becomes your way of being, helps to acknowledge that…..

….we were never meant to carry it all alone

This is your sign to take the pause you need.

Take your time over it - whether it’s a moment to light a candle, a meditation, a long, slow moment. However you choose to define it, take the pause before you show up for others.

This really is the thread that runs through my teaching here at Alvechurch Reiki, regardless of the level of training : remembering that Reiki is first and foremost a practice for self healing.

The more seasoned you are at that remembering, the greater the ripple effect and the more helpful a space you can hold for others.

You’re worth it xx

I want to share with you how I’ve recently found a way to ask for what I need…..

I frequently hold space : 🌀Reiki Share 🌀 Reiki Courses 🌀 Reiki Workshops🌀

There’s a whole lot of practicality (and kit!) that goes around the beautiful space of the day or the event. So much effort goes into setting up and packing away (and womanpower! 💪🏼)

When the event draws to a close and my students and participants want to help me, in the past I’ve got so flustered. If someone else packs my kit away I won’t know where to find anything and when they ask me what they can do to help my slots are so filled up with the task I’m currently doing, I can’t think. If I refuse help and send everyone on their way, I utterly burn out doing it all myself! Sometimes in the past I’ve really disappointed myself by the beautiful day of Reiki we’ve shared together ending with a fluster and a stress.

I don’t let it creep in, because I absolutely adore my students and event participants, but let’s face it : resentment could creep in! Either from them packing my couch away wrong or me sending them away and doing it all myself.

It’s all my issues and I own them! 😆

So I decided recently :

As part of my preparation for the event, I write down on post it’s all of the jobs that can easily be done without me. I make it clear to my students and participants that I’m happy for them just to go home at the end of the day. I guess I’m super fortunate that those present are always, always the helping kind of souls.

It really has been a game changer.

I know what I need and I’ve learnt how to ask for it.

I had the pleasure of connecting with the wonderful Amy of Amy Greaves School of Dance recently and I’m so inspired by the inclusive and enriching space she’s created through the classes she offers.
