How much of this did you know...

Originally built in 1906 with funding from the Kelsick Educational Foundation, it began life as a grammar school dedicated to helping young people in our community achieve their potential. After the school closed in the 1960s, the site became part of Charlotte Mason College before eventually falling into disrepair and sitting empty for years.

Fast forward to 2017, when David Williams - now CEO of Impact - stepped in to save Kelsick from demolition, seeing its potential to once again be a place for learning, connection and community. Seven years of careful restoration followed, bringing the building back to life.

Today, Kelsick is home to Impact’s global headquarters, a welcoming co-working and meeting space, and Force Café - a favourite stop for locals and walkers alike.

A place where the past meets the present, and where creativity, collaboration and community continue to thrive.

It's been amazing to welcome the St Mary's Hospice team to Kelsick Grammar more in 2026 and they have an incredible Community Education Programme with workshops here throughout the year.

From supporting mental health and wellbeing training to dementia awareness. Tips for talking about Cancer and Adult basic life support. These free sessions are aimed at providing training and discussions for healthcare professionals, volunteers, or anyone who wants to learn more about end-of-life care.

If you’ve spent any time here at Kelsick Grammar, you’ll know our lovely Sam is always keeping the biscuit tin topped up for our co-workers (it's VIP service at Kelsick).

So Andy, one of our lovely co-workers, decided it was time to return the favour… with a tin of “Sammie’s Dodgers” 😂 What a guy!

It’s such a small gesture, but it says everything about this place - thoughtful people, proper community and a shared love of a good biscuit.

It's safe to say these ones will remain firmly in Sam's secret stash 😉

For anyone who has visited us recently, you may have noticed the work going on next door at Force Cafe Ambleside

Builders have been working hard over the last 6 months to create a new and improved terrace area for visitors to enjoy a brew on the balcony overlooking the distant Lake District fells and Windermere.

Battling the winter weather, it's taken a little longer than we'd hoped but we’re on the last steps of it all coming together now and the balcony will be open again very soon! ☕☀️

St Mary's Hospice are hosting a "Growing Around Grief" talking table at Kelsick Grammar on Thursday 19th March 2026.

Presented by Donna Parker, St Marys Hospice - Family and Bereavement Support Lead Practitioner.

Donna will create a gentle, welcoming space for people who are living with grief or loss to come together for the evening, to share, listen or just be.

There is no pressure to share, no expectation & no judgement. Just time, space and compassion. 🫶

An afternoon walk to refresh minds, spark ideas and strengthen your team

And with some incredible routes right on our doorstep, you’re spoiled for choice:
• Stockghyll Force – a short, beautiful walk straight from the door
• Loughrigg Fell – a bigger climb with spectacular views
• Ambleside to Rydal Hall – a gentle, low-level wander (with coffee + cake stops!)
• Wansfell Pike – a proper hike for big views and bigger inspiration
