The NICE HealthTech Programme is looking for adults with experience of using digital hearing aids to help shape new guidance.

Hearing aids have been through rapid innovation over the past 25 years. Modern devices may have features such as rechargeable batteries or Bluetooth connectivity.

The NICE assessment will look at different types of hearing aids with users of these devices to help develop recommendations for the NHS.

If you would like to share your experiences as a patient expert, NICE are asking you to complete a short expression of interest form here >> https://nice.welcomesyourfeedback.net/s/Digital_Hearing_Aids

❗The deadline to complete this form is 8 December 2025. ❗

Selected persons will then be invited to a scoping workshop early in 2026.

If you have any questions about what's involved, please email diagnostics@nice.org.uk and the team will be happy to help.

👋 Meet Jennifer Conlon, Audiologist and Thame Clinic Manager at Aston Hearing!

After 20 years in Corporate Banking, Jennifer followed her passion and retrained as an audiologist in 2021. Since then, she’s been bringing warmth, care, and clinical excellence to every client she meets.

Her favourite sound? Family laughter (though her husband insists it’s the pop of a whisky cork ).

We are so lucky to have Jennifer on our team – and so are our clients in Thame and beyond!

We’re so proud to see Hollie featured here 💙 Not only does she live with hearing loss and understand the journey firsthand, but she is also our incredibly talented audiologist at Aston Hearing.

Every day, she dedicates herself to helping others hear well.

There truly aren’t enough words to express just how gifted she is – both in her profession and in the way she inspires those around her. 🌟

Meet Hollie, one of our followers & friend of LWHL!

“Hi, I’m Hollie. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 17 years — that’s now half my life! I have moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss, mainly in the high frequencies. Lip reading has become my superpower, and I honestly don’t know how I would’ve managed growing up without it. I know my eye contact can come across as intense, but for me, it’s a key part of how I follow and engage in conversation.”

Can you relate to her story?

🌟 A Huge Thank You! 🌟

From all of us at Aston Hearing, along with our friends from Horizon Rehabilitation and Ashridge Home Care, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us at our Live Well for Longer event yesterday.

It was such a pleasure spending time with you all, having meaningful conversations, and sharing ideas on how to improve the quality of life for you and your loved ones.

We all left feeling uplifted - grateful for the chance to connect, learn from one another, and share practical advice and tips. There was something valuable for everyone to take away, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

💙 Here’s to living well, for longer — and we look forward to welcoming you to our next Live Well for Longer event soon!

🌍 Lipreading Awareness Week 🌍

At Aston Hearing, we understand that hearing loss is different for everyone. For many, lipreading is a vital skill that helps bridge the communication gap.

Lipreading isn’t about guessing words, it’s about combining visual cues, context, and concentration to make conversations flow more naturally.

Here are a few simple ways you can support someone who relies on lipreading:

👉 Make sure your face is visible and well lit
👉 Speak clearly at a natural pace (no need to shout or exaggerate)
👉 Reduce background noise where possible
👉 Be patient

This week, we celebrate everyone who uses lipreading and the difference it makes in so many lives. At Aston Hearing, we believe that hearing well isn’t just about sound, it’s about relationships, confidence, and enjoying life to the fullest.

🌸 A Blooming Thank You 🌸

Our wonderful Clinical Ear Care Nurse, Cassie, was surprised with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers from a grateful client. 💐✨

At Aston Hearing, we know that ear care is about so much more than appointments, it’s about listening, understanding, and making people feel truly cared for. This thoughtful gesture shows just how much Cassie’s kindness and expertise mean to those she supports.

Thank you to our amazing clients for your appreciation, and to Cassie for always going the extra mile. We couldn’t be prouder!
