At AMC, we are lucky enough to have 4 wonderful Advanced Nurse Practitioners or ‘ANPs’ in our team. Everyday, they work closely alongside our GPs and ensure the smooth running of our ‘same day triage team’ offering an on the day service for urgent issues. They are worth their weight in gold and all bring many years of experience to the role.
From chest infections to ear pains, rashes to insect bites, steroid injections, blood tests, chest pains, contraceptive coils and implants fitting, vaccinations, minor surgery, poorly children and everything in between - they have got it covered!
Thank you to all the ANPs out there and particularly our Fab Four 💜
“From chest infections and tonsilitis to urinary tract infections and a wide range of minor illnesses, I can assess, diagnose, treat and prescribe. Being able to offer this level of care means patients are seen sooner and more often by the professional best suited to their needs. What would have usually gone to a GP, doesn’t always need to anymore because it’s about making sure you see the right clinician for your ailment.” - Bernie Kelly, Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
GP practices across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are increasing the ways people can get the right care, from the right professional, at the right time. Among specialist roles transforming patient access is the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). A highly trained clinician that is playing a key part in local primary care teams.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses who have undertaken additional training and academic qualification. This enables them to complete reviews similar to those carried out by GPs.
As part of the It Takes a Team campaign, we are highlighting the range of experts now working alongside GPs. Advanced Nurse Practitioners are proving invaluable in supporting patients with day-to-day health concerns and helping practices manage demand.
